Ok, so my fish are ick free and happy. They are spending the next 60 remaining days in the QT while the DT finishes its fishless 75 day journey. However, I find i’ve come down with something myself... Ick paranoia!!

I was just thinking how great it was that I have a nice little QT setup and my wife agreed it was necessary thankfully ;) to keep the DT from getting infected later on when new fish are added. However, what about my plan to add chaeto algae to the fuge? Now I’m wondering if the LFS that does have fish in the tank they sell the algae from has ick in that tank. I know it could easily transfer in with it. How do I avoid bringing it in when adding items to my tank that can’t be treated with copper? Inverts, chaeto, liverock?

What do you all do?

Thanks,
Dustin

16 days in a 5 gal bucket. Powerhead, heater, and a light for photosynthesis. Change 1 gal each day. I try to get mine from a place that is "fishless" to avoid parasites: Algaebarn, Reefcleaners, etc.

Macro just needs dipped to remove pods and then held for 16 days to make sure no free swimmers ride along.

Inverts and corals are a different story and you already have been given the article I would have directed you to :)
