Hey all,

When i put 2 Jebao wavemakers in the master / slave configuration, classic mode / cross flow, the slave pump is spinning irregular.
I have tried this with different models (AOW wifi and DLW bluetooth), with both having the same issue.
Changing who is master and who is slave has the same effect. The wavemakers alternate and the slave pump spins irregular.

On all other settings the wavemakers seem to be working fine...but its the alternating cross flow i need for my peninsula.

Is this a known thing? Or am i goofing something up?

Warm greetings from Belgium
and thanks in advance!

I’m not familiar with Jabo power heads so I’m sorry I can’t be of help in that regard. However I do have a peninsula tank and I can help with the struggle of flow. I tried many different powerheads and in the end, 2 AI orbit 4’s provided the best flow. Learn from me and me spending money on expensive stuff, at one point I had 4 mp40’s on the overflow side and that wasn’t good enough to hit the opposite side. Now they lay in the basement and were used for a week. With the orbit 4’s you can create many cross flow patters and they really do provide great current in a peninsula. I’m sorry I can’t be of help with the Jebo issue however I just wanted to share what worked since peninsula tanks can be very hard to get good flow dialed in.

Additionally, I do not set mine up in a Master Slave relationship. I’ve programmed them at different times to react differently with opposite flow percentages to get that back and forth motion. I found that better/easier than the master slave programming. Maybe try that instead? May take a little more work to set up but may provide better results in the end.

I only run jebao.
They're great, last forever but I only use/by the older models.
I trust nothing wifi for my tank... ;)
I also never run the master slave option, nothing but issues.
I only run them either full on or full off and I set them on a timer not to run at night.
They're a great, cheap option.

that is running correctly. You have cross flow selected. It will run one pump for the frequency and then turn off and run the other. the greater the frequency the longer it will stay on and the other stays off. if you want them both to run at the same time you need to select pulse.

It is that alternating on/of mode that i want. But the slave pump (tried different models and reversing the master / slave) spins irregular.

I don’t get what you are saying spins irregular. Cause it’s twitching some. You also have it out of water and that isn’t a big deal.

it does exactly the same in the water. The 'twiching' when it is supposed to be off is not the problem. When the slave is spinning it ramps up and down very irregular instead of spinning at a constant speed.

That’s the way Jebao are supposed to run in “C” Shift to Flow Mode, with two pumps. If you want something different, use “W1,” “W2,” “Else,” or “H.” I helped someone set up the pumps, we played with them in two square sided buckets, before putting them in an Aquarium. The newer instructions are a lot easier to follow, than the old instructions.

I am probably not explaining myself well enough.

It is that alternating on/of mode that i want. But the slave pump (tried different models and reversing the master / slave) spins irregular. It seems that the voltage to the pump that is marked as slave is not consistent. It is hard to see on the video, but you can hear it quite well.

It sounds like it is pulsing while it is running in the slave mode. Is that with way it sounds? Like spinning up and down while running?

I have 2 Sow 8's in that same configuration, and one of mine does the same thing. Usually after about 5-6 days of working fine, it starts doing exactly what you are talking about. If I unplug the controller on the master controller and plug it back in, it usually fixes it for another week. I have no clue why, but I started looking at some new ones now. Weird problem to have!

The crossflow setting never worked for me either. Rather than alternate back and forth it just be erratic. Sometimes they will both be running and cause a lot of turbulence. (to much, actually)

I just gave up on their crossflow setting. I also hate needing long presses in their app where a single press would make more sense.

You can setup 2 pumps to come on and off without the link.
Use C mode and the dial to set how long they are on/off.
One is on while the other is off. You can set it for 5 seconds on off or up to 30+ on/off.
This way you have control not having to hope the controller works. I had the same issues and now run as said above.
