Here's another video that might help. It's hiding less and I did 4K on this one. I'm noticing that it's not a circular indent, it's a 1/2 inch long horizontal indent with the dark circle being the center (and deepest) part. In this video it's showing mostly it's left side, the right side is worse. You'll get a few flashes of that side.

Too many skipping this important step and paying the price. BIOTA is a facility known for Tank raised fish - Not Immune fish. You recognize the importance in this step and know what to do moving forward. If the darting is continuous, consider PraziPro dosed at 85% of recommended with an air stone added
I know, I screwed up. Bit me once in freshwater when my whole tank got ich. Never did it again until now. Whether this ends well or not, I'm not doing it again. Even ended up setting of a solid little QT later (pic attached) in the day yesterday for some clowns I purchased from my LFS later in the afternoon. I incorrectly made the call soley based on the Biota piece. Wrong move for sure.

For the darting, the darting seems to be happening a little less. It's exploring the tank more and eating a little. Just seems to swim in bursts rather than cruising...

I wouldn't beat yourself up over skipping QT it may or may not have anything to do with what is going on and isn't going to make a difference one way or the other at this point. Not that it matters but I did observation only QT on mine.

I believe that is artificial rock which is fine - just no real rock as medication will have an impact. If running cartridges in the power filter, assure carbon has been removed. Simply cut the top and shake the carbon out onto a paper towel and add back later after treatment

I have the Biota YT as well.

In the last Video, he seemed better, fins fully open, darting less, mine did that to for a couple days but settled down.

Mine of course does not have those marks that remind me of bite marks, or other mechanical type damage.

I assume he came to you like that from seller.

I do not own a yellow tang so can't really comment on the issue. Mr. Hemdal and others provided more suited advise than what I could give. Outside the mark in question it looks active, healthy, with excellent fin condition.

I do have a lot of fish that I purchased directly from Biota but I do not do chemical treatment when purchased directly. I do not believe that it is the best option with juvenile / young captive bred, raised, fish. I do, however, believe in using an isolation, observation system with plenty of live rock, macro algae, and assorted corals. To me it provides a more natural environment while giving the owner an opportunity to see what food(s) it eats without the fast past action a display with larger fish presents.

I've not seen it mentioned but I feed small portions hourly dry and 1 to 2 frozen feedings per day. Hikari, TDO and PE mysis dry. Frozen is also small portions and I have LRS Nano, fish, reef, PE calanus, plankton, prime reef, angel, and a few others. In isolation I can see what it eats and keeps down vs striking and ignoring or spitting out. With my Gold Lined Rabbit I would add nori to a rock with some mastic on the side. This was every three days or there about.

Note: this is what I do and understand there are different use cases.

Yes, from Biota. Got him 24 hours ago, shipped overnight.

Maybe he took some aggression from another at the source.

I seen 24 of them in a holding tank, some had a nip in the fins, but I’ve not seen anything like that. That being said, some batches are mostly white, but colour up fast when settled.

Mine didn’t eat for 24 hours, but then settled right down at 48 hours with a bite or two. 72 hours was aggressively eating mysis.

Maybe send them a pic and get some feed back on

Thank you for the input. I did let them know right away, and sent photos and video. They told me to give it a few days and send them a status update, which I'll do on Monday (day 3).

Well, I've been going against the advice and putting fish in to the DT right away as I do not have a QT tank.

After reading all this I will have to reconsider.... Sadly this thread piqued my interest because I have a purple and three yellows coming from Biota next week.

I think the QT issue is more important if one buys a Biota tang from an LFS - in which case the fish could be exposed to disease/parasites.

I would be very careful adding tank raised fish to a tank that has occasional ich or non-quarantined fish - this is a high risk for the Biota/tank raised fish since those fish would have potentially no immunity

Agree. Persons are misled, dont realize the concept and rely on LFS and seller sources. Often its too late once a fish is introduced to place pressure on QT.

Don't be sad, lol. I think Biota are generally considered to be a great resource and their customer service has been phenomenal. I would and will order from them again. I think it's just bad luck on this one. I'm sure your fish will be great.

My LFS actually has really good Biota sources yellow tangs coming in all the time. This is my first time ordering/shipping a fish. The only reason I didn't get one from my LFS is they don't quarantine, all their fish are in the same filtration, and every time I pop in there I see a fish or two floating/dead in a couple tanks. Definitely would have quarantined if I got one from them. Same price. Wish I had as I could have looked at the fish first, main reason why I've never ordered before. Never liked the idea of buying something I haven't seen.

How is this fish doing? I am no expert but was wondering if it could be an inbreeding issue. The jerky behavior looked neurological to me. Did he settle down or grow out of it?

About the same. The jerky swimming is still be there, but seems to do it more when I come to the tank to feed. Almost like it's excited behavior.

The indent on both sides with the dark coloration looks the same. No change. The fish has yellowed up a bit, but dark/indentation areas on its body haven't changed.

Biota asked me to give it a month to see if it goes away.
