It was this big... Now its this big...

I'll start looking for some 32 oz round bottles to switch to. Since I'm staying "small scale" and trying to go with 4 varieties I'm avoiding gallons so I don't over produce? I may upgrade once I get a good pod population growing though.
I put all mine in the fridge when I went to the DR... just been hitting that stockpile and havent restarted anything yet. I agree w/ @F i s h y regarding settling phyto.

Definitely shopping for round bottles then.

Now I want chicken.
You laugh. I was serious.

Update:
Tank looks pretty good.
Got a new torch (reverse tiger something or other)
Got a new acro (it has a name but I just call it 25 bucks)

Posting only to document. This could be a treatment for bjd. Specifically in gonis.
This goni presented with a circular spot the size of a quarter with bjd. I left it alone to see what would happen for around 5 days. The spot never really grew but it was def bjd. I had never seen bjd in a goni and have had this particular peice for around 3 years.
The night I decided to treat it the bjd had spread and was covering an area about the size of a half dollar.
I used a turkey baster to clean anything loose from the coral.
I then pulled it out in a Tupperware to gently scrub with a tooth brush.
I applied neosporin to it and let it sit on there for 5 mins.
I then blew it off with a turkey baster and let the coral continue to set in the Tupperware for an additional 5 mins.
Rinsed the coral and put it back in the tank.
24 hours later no additional bjd and the polyps that were showing signs are now starting to extend again.
Unfortunately I have no good before images.
In the pics the entire area is covered with neosporin had bjd.

For anyone that was interested in how this went,

The Goni developed just the slightest bit of residual BJD. I could have done a 2nd treatment, but it did not spread and cleared itself up quickly. This Goni is now completed clear and the flesh has started to regrow over the affected area.

Trial 1 i would say was pretty successful.

I was just going to see how it worked out. That's pretty awesome.

Sad news today. For the 2nd time in 2 months my Mertens took a walk and found a gyre. Casualties are high.
4 anthias
2 springeri
2 cardinals
2 orchid dotty backs
Chocolate tang
Convict tang
Vlamingi tang
Gem tang
Achilles tang
Magnificent foxface
Tomni tang

The mertens will sadly be finding a new home even though it is my favorite part of my reef.
I do have my native Hawaiian yellow, my Hawaiian chevron, my one spot fox, and my ornate leopard wrasse left.
Plus a few clowns and cleaner gobies.

Time to decide if and with what I'll be replacing fish with.

Chevron tang... irreplaceable... has now passed as well. Devastating day in my reef.
That one hurts... belonged to a fellow reefer that suddenly passed away. His wife entrusted me with it knowing how special it was. Likely the only living chevron in the state, and one of very few left in private aquariums in the country...

Sorry to hear this J, one hit after the other.

Not enough comforting words when stuff like this happens.

Your tank will be back as beautiful and full in no time!

Deep breaths help ;)
