Jbj hqi evap

Hey, New here at reef to reef so thanks in advance for any and all help.

I recently set up a Jbj hqi and I'm getting at least a gallon a week of evap. Is this normal for this tank ? I just did a water change two days ago and tonight I had to add a 1/2 gallon of water. My temps are pretty stable at 80

80 is a on the high range of acceptable, if you are able to lower the temp to ~78 you would have slightly less evap. I have to do daily top offs on all my tanks. Evap is a pain, that is why a lot of people go with auto top offs.
