For anyone considering or already owning the AP700 be aware that they have color discrepancy firmware issues that they are currently still working on. Time table they gave me was “months” which isn’t great.

The last two program points will fail to tune into the correct shade of blue and will default to the deepest blue instead. Not sure how many units this affects but since they are well aware of it, it’s safe to say that it’s a considerable amount.

After speaking and emailing their customer service rep, they came up with a temporary fix. Here it is and I hope it alleviate future headaches from people trying to repeatedly program the light with no effect.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I've noticed this as well when scrolling through the color wheel.

At least they were honest and not feeding you lines of BS, but really, months for that? My emails to Franco seem to have gone into a black hole, wonder if he's even still with the company.

Here is mine; ATI 4 bulb fixture plus custom made bracket for the two 160WE kessil controlled by Apex.
I really like how you have the kessils angled in :) Like the sun beaming on them from across the sky :)

After looking at these tanks I'm ready to switch to Kessil. I've got three Maxspect Ethereal lights on my Red Sea 525 and just can't get it dialed in. Tank is 59 inches long, 22 deep and 22 front to back. It says on the website the AP700 is good for "up to" 48 inches so I think I'll need two but it seem a little overkill. Softies / LPS right now but I plan on adding SPS in the future. Would the diffusers tone down the lights enough that I don't burn anything? I'm fairly new to all of this so any suggestions would help. Thanks.

I’m interested in what you go with. I have 2 A80s over my 40breeder but just order a reefer 625xxl and was thinking 3 A360s or 4 A160s. Curious if you can cover 59” with an AP700.

59 inches id opt for three A360s. 48 inches is the max spread for a mixed reef on the ap700

got my AP700 online last night... have to get used to looking at my tank and getting blinded, but loving the colors. I opted to go with Major Diffuser to lighten the Shimmer.

Looks nice! What schedule are you running? Are you running an acclimation mode so you don't freak out your corals?

so far I have a very simple on-ramp-up-ramp down schedule until i have time to "play" with it. I do have it on acclamation mode with a max of 30% that, the diffusers, and being 14" off the water I would be shocked if i burn anything... if anything it might help save my new monti's i had to move to the sand since my last lights burned them.

so far loving it!

How long is your tank? Looks like it’s mounted a little higher than needed.

It's a reefer 350. So it's 4 feet long. But I agree it does look to high which is odd since it calls for it to be 15-18 inches off the water and I am at 14". I will see what happens is I lower.

Some snap shots of mine with and two bulb T5. Running an AP700 at 50% max with some red and green. Hoping to get a hybrid if they ever get them in stock. I love the light and the ease of control with the WiFi app. I used to have the A160s and needed more power. Growth has been great and with the T5, even better.

Some app photos. I those some weather conditions in there and run my lights from 9am to 10pm with a max intensity of 50% for 4 hours. If I tinker with the settings I try to do it in small increments. Corals are sensitive and will let you know if it's too much.

Have a small H80 in the sump, which works great for my chaeto.it is off at the moment.

Some more pics of my overcrowded tank. Duncans aren't too happy but they will bounce back.

Then that’s about right. If you had a PAR meter you could fine tune the height. By lowering the light and checking at what point it no longer reaches the outside corals. Mounted 14” a lot of light is going to be hitting the glass, this illuminating the whole tank. However if you lowered the light to the point where all corals are getting hit but not so high it’s spilling onto the glass or outside.

That’s how I found that ~9” is ideal for a 36” length.

Got the AP700 a few weeks back, anyone have suggestions on settings/spectrum I should use?
Absolutely! :) What size tank, how far away from the water surface is the bottom of the light and what corals are you keeping?

@crabs_mcjones
Have been planning on using A360 WE, with T5 retrofits (4 bulbs) on a (future) six foot sps heavy tank. How many 360 would you recommend? Was planning on 6 but thought that may be too much with the t5s.

On a six foot tank with T5's id do three spaced every 18 inches apart.
