Guys

2 weeks ago I did an experiment with adding a ton of outside air via a big air pump to try to increase ph
It did but only .1 during the lights out period.
I took it off and a few days later my kh had dropped .7 , not sure it was the added air or something else

Anyway , today my kh is 10.9 , up from 9.0 exactly a week ago so I’ve backed of the afr a couple ml but I’m wondering what’s causing this

Could the massive amount of bacteria coming out my return be the answer ?
My skimmers catching it but it is a little cloudy

Anything else I might be missing?

Just occurred to me that I’ve added about 15 ltrs of nsw over the last week or 2 to compensate for skimmate because it’s been full in 2 days
My refractometer is dodgy at best but the lfs checked it Friday at 1.025
Is that enough to raise it 2.0 ? I think not but will contribute some

Dunno but perhaps you've made the tank angry and it's temporarily stopped uptaking alkalinity.

That’s now every day

I see a pause in alkalinity consumption after I do a water change and thorough cleaning. I always figured the disturbance just causes it. Seems to go back to normal in a day or two.

My they way, a 0.1 increase in pH is significant in my book, but perhaps not what you were hoping for.

Yeah there’s been a bit of disruption lately , I’m going to let it reduce down to 9 and go with the kalk dosing , hopefully more than a .1 increase ( day didn’t increase by the way ,, stayed at 8)
