Adding a powerhead would be 'easier' but I'm hoping to get a lot more flow and keep the clean look by getting a larger return pump for my Red Sea Max Nano.

What is the biggest DC pump I can fit in, and do any of the random-flow nozzles fit on the tube that is in the tank?

Don't know the answer to your first question, but there are a couple of options for connecting an RFG to a Max, here:
