I have two 24" Reefkeeper Photon's that I plan to upgrade to plus, but the two lights will be hung over a 36" tank. Is there any reason that doing this would be bad? I have never heard of someone using lighting that was longer than the tank. Thanks for helping a newbie

It won't hurt the tank or inhabitants, if that's what your asking. However, I feel that it is a HUGE waste! One of those lights would be plenty for a 36" tank. Why waste the energy and light that will be of NO use to the tank. Double the power usage, none of the benefits.

Thanks, I didn't realize that one would be sufficient. I am hoping to eventually have a mixed tank with some clams. My tank is a 58 gallon and is fairly deep at 2'

That Light has 10 x 3watt LED's and a whopping 22 x 5 watt. With the lenses on it, you will have plenty of power. With a deep tank you may have to turn it up, or have the light closer to the water if you want to keep SPS or clams on the bottom, but otherwise it should get the job done nicely.
