I've seen some crazy looking sponges.
I might be one of a few sponge-bobs on this website.

Camden,
I am happy to see a younger reefer in the hobby. Keep things simple.

Shoot for the stars, yet stay grounded.

Thank you sir. By SpongeBob do you mean someone who knows a lot about sponges? What would you recommend?

I recommend a mature system with multiple food webs. In reviewing your threads I saw where you used a fungicide to deal with gha. That would not work well with filter feeders. At 77 years old, I have learned that quick fixes have long time consequences.

With respect to ornamental sponges, yellow ball sponge and orange elephant ear sponges are the most hardy. Five years ago, they cost $5. Now they are $20.

Oh jeez I did use fluanzacole to rid of my GHA. But it wouldn't go away any other way.

Aren't those extremely hard to take care of

I've been looking for one locally but have not kept them. From what I've read target feeding is required. I suppose that could be difficult for some but not so much an old retired guy with too much time on his hands lol

Don’t fret it. I have some gha that I tolerate. I use herbivores to deal with gha.

Do you use a protein skimmer on your systems?

Consider using your skimmate as a bacteria diversity supplement and a carbon source for your corals and your filter feeders, including sponges.

This particular conversation with @Lasse concerned the eradication of Cyanobacteria. Instead of fighting fire with fire, this battle is bacteria against bacteria.
