So I had bought this wrasse as a exquisite wrasse and I thought maybe it was just a female. Today I bought a lubbocks fairy wrasse and I was looking into them more though. I think the exquisite is a lubbocks female. Will a male and female lubbocks fairy wrasse do ok with each other?

thanks, Logan

It’s hard to see clearly with the picture however it definitely looks like she is from the lubbocki complex, maybe not a true lubbocki but definitely from that complex.

As for will they get along, it’s hard to know long term as all female fairies will become male in the long run.

Do you know where this specific wrasse came from?

Looking at pictures and comparing them I believe they are both from Indonesia

Females will look identical of both variants of Lubbocki, if you have photos of the definite male then I can help ID it as I own both variants.

I can get a better picture when I’m home but it looks like the top fish

Both of those are the same variant, and that is the Indonesian Lubbocki. heres my Cebu against the indonesian to show you the difference.

If the female transitions it’s hard to know if they’ll get along together. Mine do but this is most likely due to a 4’ tank and plenty of territory (Like there’s too much of it).

Thank you for your help :) I’ll wait and see how they get along and move one to my 65 if needed, the new male is almost 4 inches and has Amazing colour :)

That’s interesting that yours is 4 inches, my Indonesian is the smaller one at around 2.5 inches (if that) where my Cebu is 3 inches if not bigger.

Still hiding a bit but here he is :)
Definitely looks to be an Indonesian, absolutely stunning specimen and when he’s out I look forward to seeing photos. I recommend putting photos of him on the Wrasse lovers thread too as there’s not many Lubbockis showing on there besides mine every so often :)
