Growth seems to be picking up. I added a second noops to help with shadowing.

How long have thse been growing roughly? Mine have been floating for.... like 8-12 months and maybe have 4 leaves.

I just moved one to the display fuge and hope to get it under some soil to see the difference. I think lighting is playing a part too... mine are maybe under 100-300 par... which i think is weak for these... Sun is 1000+ EZ

Ur growth is way way outshining just floating. Have you tested par on these?

One noop 100% never measured par. Added a second at 100 percent last night.

@Nate Chalk this is from April 1st. Man they where so tiny. 2 had one set of leaves and the other only had one leaf.


If you do add soil it can get messy. Place sand at the bottom than soil and mangrove and cover with sand. Before you add the last layer of sand soak the soil really well out side the tank. Than add the sand. Wet again.

Do not use potting mix its light fluffy and floats extremely well.

Besides the mangroves doing very well I made a small filer. Working very well.

Urs look so good compared to mine... Had mine for 1.5 years and got to 4 leaves floating them.

Floating these is not a good way to get growth. Typical reef tanks dont have the amount of required nutrients in the water to support good growth. You need a substrate that the roots can pull needed nutrients from. We have a 6' tall one at the lfs wish it'd been pruned properly but it has multiple branches. It is and was grown in substrate. Maybe since I'll be in the area today I'll get a pic.

The one in the display fuge with actual sand and Fiji mud is doing much better.

Even the 1 inch it's in.

I can't agree more. These need to be treated like house plants.
