Congratulations BeakerBob! Very nice photo of a very nice specimen there!

and a secondary thanks to Gary for running these contests, I plan on doing better next month by using a photobucket account that actually works, I keep losing with my "bandwith limit reacher" picture :squigglemouth:

Thanks! Picture of the Majestic Angelfish was taken with a Nikon D70 using a Tamron 90mm macro lens set at 1/60 @ f/9. I used the on-camera flash with the camera in a vertical position.

Awesome shot BeakerBob!! How do you like the Tamron lens? I've been toying with the idea of upgrading from my Canon 60mm and the Tamron 90mm is quite a bit cheaper than the Canon 100mm

The Tamron is a great lens with very good reviews at a good price. It is very sharp and has good background bokeh. The only thing I don't like about the lens is that it extends when focusing, while the Nikon and Canon lenses do not. This is not a big deal unless you are taking top down pictures using a look down box or a photo tube.

I have been more than satisfied with the lens and it rivals the Nikon & Canon in sharpness, detail and cost.

A good read about the lens can be found below:

That's a great picture of a beautiful fish. I've been looking at the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro for quite a while now. Just a few more pennies and it will be mine :)
