Went to my LFS to return the par meter today and decided I would pick up this Strawberry Shortcake frag they have had for a few weeks. Happy father’s day to me from me! Tank is now complete and its time to just kick back and let it grow.

Alright, alright, alright, last one I promise!
picked up this WWC Yellow Tips for a steal since it hadn’t colored up yet. I think it looks good even if it doesn't get the purple fade and bright yellow tips but if it does then thats even better.

One month update!

The Hygger wave makers are gone. Sent them back to amazon before the time expired. They just didn’t provide a noticeable improvement in flow. The 1600gph rating seems a bit questionable but they were perfect for the Back wall of the very narrow 30L.

Other than that it’s been pretty steady going. The IM skimmer has been doing awesome and fills the cup each week.

The Jebao returns are doing great, as is the KPM, the Spin streams finally settled in are silent. The UV light is there for emergencies but I decided to run 2-4” mesh socks from Aquamaxx. One on each side. I also added a big media bag of pond matrix to the sump for some added bio filtration.

I ran poly-filter for the month and it was a light brown, indicating its only pulling organics And nothing particularly bad. I tossed it and will run the ROX .08 carbon.
The yellow tang, lemons as my daughter calls him, and the red lined wrasse, , are doing great. All of the transfers are doing good as well.

Still running kalk on the dozer every hour and will occasionally add a touch of all-for-reef if the Alk dips but it’s been pretty steady so far.

SR series tanks really take the cake for innovative marine line. Very beautiful setup and rock work you have. Looking forward to seeing the tank grow in!

Thanks a lot. Can’t wait myself. I just ordered 2-Tunze 6040’s to replace the Hygger pumps. I ran 1-6040 in my 30L and it was a really good pump. I have no doubts i will be set on flow for the rest of this tanks life once they arrive. Total gph capability will be 5080 gph Plus the returns lol.

Update time!

It took some time and tinkering but I was able to get a power head placement that is gentle but has everything swaying. Its not the most aesthetically pleasing but the movement from the torches distracts enough to not notice them.

All of the corals are doing well. I noticed the skimmer had not been producing as much the last week or two so I broke it down to clean it today And noticed the impeller shaft was broken. Even still it produced a fair amount. I swapped it with the Cadlight PLS-50 V2 until I can get a replacement.

And finally, we have a new addition of Herold the Horned Blenny . I have wanted one for a while but have never seen one locally until yesterday. He is the hide and seek champ when he hits the rocks!

I seem to get best results with them at full power. I have no complaints with them though. Dead silent and they just

What did you use to make your wood top? Is that a regular sheet of plywood? Do you know the thickness. I have a IM20 Peninsula and I am trying to make something similar! Obsessed with it!

I am trying to find a link to the product I used from home depot but at having a hard time finding it. I did not use plywood, it is a 48”x15”x1” white pine board they also carry an 18” wide one as well. I used 2 of these and biscuit joined them together to make one 48x30 board, the. Cut it to the size I wanted.

I have used good quality plywood, like birch, in the past but you won’t get the same look and to make a nice finished edge you would need to use something like screen molding to trim the edge of the ply wood. This looks good as well but not as good as the routed edge on the board I used. Plus the graining and character of this pops much better in my opinion. If you don’t have the ability or comfort to join the two together to make a wide enough piece then I would suggest the plywood and screen molding route. I used that on my JBJ 45 build and it came out good as well. I will try to find that and post a link.

I will keep looking for the product I used as well and post a link if I find it.

Here is the link to my JBJ45 so you can see a little on the plywood option:

Here is what I used, its actually 16" my mistake:

Here is the 20" version:

another thing that I saw the other day at home depot was they now carry butcher block counter tops. Much more expensive but a very cool option as well:

Thanks so much! Going to look into both options!

Did some maintenance today and figured it was due for and update.

The yellow tang died last month. I am not sure what happened but he was kindda blowing around in the flow with a large stripe of flesh missing from his back but not dead. I turned the pumps down and he was able to stay upright in the cave. By morning he was dead. Weird, he ate well and seemed healthy, maybe a pump got him somehow?

Everyone else is doing fine.

After the tang died I decided it was time for a change. Rescaped the rock and mounted almost all the corals on the rock.

I also found out my wire was splitting on the skimmer pump and decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to an Aquamaxx WS-1 skimmer. So far it is a work horse and I do recommend it for anyone considering. Here are a few pics from today.

Really digging the new peninsula style aquascape! Sorry about the tang though.
Thanks, it looks better in person because you can actually see all of the openings in the rocks.it will be pretty packed once things grow in but thats the look I wants to go for, open and clean but still packed with corals
