What are you guys using in your media basket? Just curious. I have a 28g nano cube with the stock media basket, media and sponge. The only media I'm using that's not stock is Chemi Pure Blue. I'm really thinking of getting the inTank media basket. I'm tempted to get rid of the ceramic beads/tubes and use Marine Pure spheres. I just want to see what you all are putting in yours that you feel has really helped your tank. TIA.

I have the JBJ AIO 45 gallon and went to the intank basket ( which I love it's twice as big as the stock and not cheap) and I use from the top polyfilter and a coarse sponge under the polyfilter in the top. Matrix and matrix carbon I the middle and purigen in the bottom. I'll be moving the matrix and purigen to my sump which I will be building as soon as I get one fitting. I am also using a brick of Marine Pur in the middle basket as well, its not the thick one but it works and I'll transfer that down into the refugium as well

Hello Mark,
That's a very slick idea for a,media rack! Would you mind sharing you plans for building your $2 rack?
Oh, I noticed that you are in Michigan, I am as well, I'm near lansing.
I'm going to be getting a jbj rl 45 soon, I'm getting back into the hobby.

They're not even close. The InTank design forces all the water through the media. The eggcrate does not. If the eggcrate works for you that's great but to say that it's the same thing is just incorrect.

Hello.
Thanks. It's really easy all you need is some egg crate (got mine from home depot) and some zipties.

Just cut the egg crate so it will fit inside the back chambers. Then cut a few smaller pieces for shelves.

It's always nice to meet local reefers.
When you plan on getting the new tank going?

Evening Mark,
I am not sure when yet, I just made my mind up about getting back into the hobby on Tuesday this week, so it will be a bit yet, and I am either going to buy a custom stand from the lfs (they have a guy that will build one to fit and looks nice and is well built, unlike the JBJ stands, I used to have a JBJ stand under my 28 nanocube back in the day) The stand would take approximately 4 - 6 weeks to build, so still weighing my options, I might build one myself. Besides this hobby is for the long term not a whim, so going to think things through before jumping in the deep in so to speak.
Thanks for the response and the directions.

Biocube 29, Running blue bonded filter pad, purigen, then chemipure blue. Was running elite before with I feel better results. Gonna change back to elite. 2 year tank doing real good! Also running a refugium basket right next to media basket in chamber 2. I made my own baskets with plexiglas, same dimensions as INTank . Chamber 1 aquaticlife 115 skimmer.

Have a Fusion 30L (30gallon) and I am currently running a filter sock on the left side and media basket (filter floss, bag of chemi-pure blue) on the right.

Would it be a bad idea to do another similar basket on the right ? Is it possible to have to much Chemi-pure? I didn't see a size amount on the container.
