You may have seen a couple of people on Reef2Reef who have a badge called "Reef Squad". What does this badge mean? What exactly is "Reef Squad"? Well, let's talk about it!

The "Who" of the Reef Squad​

The Reef Squad is a dedicated team of some of the exceptional members of the R2R community! These members are tried and true, and they have committed to using their knowledge and experience to lend a helping hand to our community!

The "Why" of the Reef Squad​

It's no secret that Reef2Reef is full of incredible reefers ready to share. This team is not meant to silence or overpower those voices, but to add to them with intention, especially when a problem's solution isn't black and white. Got a problem that is a little more complex? The Reef Squad will do their best to help you work it out. Just use #reefsquad when you think you need some extra help!

This team was hand-picked by staff, not because they are "experts" at their craft (although we hold them in high esteem as the reefing proof is in their mysis shrimp pudding), but because they have consistently demonstrated experience, wisdom, and care for others in the community. They are a group of real reefers who care deeply about our community. We couldn't thank them enough for their dedication to our hobby and Reef2Reef.

OUTSTANDING! It's like I've known you for years now......

Ok, fine.

My name, as stated above, is Tim. I've been reefing off and on since around 2008 with around 5 years in the middle with no reef tanks. In 2019 I started back into reefing with a 5 gallon Pico tank - corals and a little Ocellaris clown (she's still with me today).

June 2021 I stepped up my game a little bigger. I kept the 5 gallon Pico and tore down my 75 gallon cichlid aquarium and turned it into a reef tank.

April 2023 came my 125 (135) mixed reef and the 75 came down. Shortly afterwards the 5 gallon also got absorbed into the 135.

January 2024 I set up my current ESHOPPS M70 70 gallon Mariner mixed reef and tore down my 135 which was overrun with Aiptasia.

July 2024 I built (from a kit) a Tenecore 5.6 gallon AIO acrylic tank which is still running today, just without a light, fish, or corals currently.

February 2025 I set up another Pico - an 8 gallon IOAOI AIO.

I hunt, fish, shoot archery, camp, and have aquariums. I work for a local municipal water department as the Water Manager and oversee the clean water side of our operations. I have all 4 of my Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 4 water and wastewater certifications. I am married with 2 children - a daughter (18) and a son (16). I currently have 3 dogs but have had 4 dogs, a cat, a hedgehog, and chickens and quails. I graduated from NAU with my Bachelor of Science in Public Administration in 2015.

Hello I’m Matt LeBrun, aka Reefer Matt. I’ve been reefing for eight years continuously, while having a brief stint in 2005-06. It’s true I have a YT channel, but that doesn’t define myself or my intentions. I was here on R2R before I started it, and I’m a Reefer first.

My forte is sps coral. I don’t persue high end stuff, I just like good growing colorful coral. And to be fully honest, I have many other types of coral (I own a reefing side biz), but sps are easier for me for some reason. (I also love zoas!)

My goal is to help others where I can, and make some new friends along the way. The bulk of my secrets is rolling up my sleeves and doing the maintenance when it needs to be done. But along the way I’ve run into a lot of pests, problems, and pitfalls that I hope to help you avoid. I’m very excited to be a part of this group, and will always push to make it better for you! I wish you success and happiness with your reef, and look forward to helping you!

Hello Everyone! Most of you probably know me, but for those who don't. My name is Bailey. If you see @AlyciaMarie on here causing trouble, that would be my wife. You will probably hear the name River a bunch, too; that is our adorable son. I wear so many different hats here at Reef2Reef. Whether it is me answering questions, helping new members out, causing some kind of chaos with people here, or running some of our Social Media, I help out wherever I can.

My goal is to always make sure everyone feels like they are a part of the R2R community. If that means me simply complementing you on your tank, or helping answer a question you may have, then I am all for it!

Current tank setup? That is tbd right now. We had a 20g setup, but with a lot of traveling and some mess-ups on my end, it had to be shut down. Now we are in the process of setting up a 180g at our R2R headquarters! Not to mention the 20g will be resurrected here in a few months once we get the 180g rolling.

Anyways, if any of you ever need help or just want someone to talk to, my inbox is always open, and I am here to have fun with everyone!
