My Anemone is a brat

Any tricks to "help" a BTA settle down in a good spot in the DT?
This weekend, I brought home a ultra bright Rose BTA. After doing a little research on their "preferred" flow and lighting, I placed it in a great spot (I thought). It immediately hid under a rock. "No problem, I thought. Just a little shy in a new tank". I moved the rock this morning and the BTA went on the move. It has taken up residence in the darkest, calmest spot in the tank, which happens to be facing the rear glass. :mad: I hate blowing $100 on an animal that insists on hiding.

Unfortunately that's how anemones work. For now I would let it be where it's happy, let it acclimate and I'm sure in time it will peek out. I learned the more you mess with them the worse it could end up.

I kinda figured that might be the case. I know that trying to move them can end up bad, so I guess i'll just look forward to the day when it decides to grace me with its presence? Also a little disappointed that my clowns seem completely disinterested in it. :confused:

Give them time as well. It took months before we had clowns host a BTA. Once they found it they never left.

I was preparing for mine to do the same, just plopped it down on top of a rock, it moved over 1" and has stayed put for 2 weeks now, so I seem to have lucked out and found a spot it enjoys...lol...

In time yours will probably venture out once its comfortable.

My rose bubble did the same thing, settled in the back of my peninsula tank even though I told it to stay front and center. After three months I 'had' to swap the acan garden and the rock the anemone was on. Hasn't moved for about 2 months though :) I'd also like to vent about my plain ocellaris clowns who just make pothole in the sand 5 inches from the nem and sleep there..you can see the displaced sand not far from the anemone.

Awesome. My clowns love to make potholes too. It’s pretty funny to watch them “dig” though. Thanks for commiserating.

Probably right. I have two rock flower anemones that moved about 1” and anchored down, so luck must play a part.

Your situation could be worse. If your anemone was a "ritteri", it would settle down with its butt stuck firmly at the dead center position of the front pane of glass of your aquarium...

For sure I am hoping that this one will choose to find a brighter area with more higher flow. LIKE THE FRONT ROCKS. Lol.
