I could keep them in my tub for the entire time if I wanted to. It is just as large as the 20g glass tank. I just don't like it because it doesn't lend itself to viewing as well as the QT. A tank would dry and be hot in two hours in the hot Florida sun.
I believe it. Although equipment can take longer to completely dry, even in Florida ;)

Thanks for the reply. I'd be so far up the creek without this forum! I have a few questions now.

Should I start metro soaked food now? Can it be used with prazipro dosed in the water? Should I also soak the food with prazipro and discontinue the water dosing? When can I stop with the meds? Full 21 days? When I no longer see the white poo?

Lastly, with regard to the process we are following in this thread, does the use of soaked foods for the first 14 days hide the symptoms? Should the recommendation be to go a full 21 days from the start?

If the fish are eating food soaked with GC I would use it instead of Prazipro.

It's fine to food soak meds while using prazi or GC dosed in water.

Typically 14 days is enough. So 21 should only be needed if white stringy poop is still present after the 14 days.

My lfs who has been in business for 18 years told me he would not quarantine or at least not with copper. His fish look great and he has really nice coral ($$). He doesn't even carry copper pro, copper test kit or metro. I had to go elsewhere today to pick them up. The two new fish are in the QT and I think I will wait until tomorrow to dose the copper and metroplex. What do you think?

That decision is yours my friend. I prefer to start copper sooner than later.

This hobby is full of people who are pro and anti copper. So no surprise there with the LFS. My guess is he has a very large UV on his system or some other type of filtration like a diatom filter etc.

Obviously I am pro QT, there are several members here who are not. I think each method has its own madness and the tho of fish you desire to keep, the source, age of tank, etc all play an important role on which route to take.

So should I put in some metroplex now as well? I am using a 20g QT. What would you recommend in ml for copper power and for metroplex?

Thanks. The fish already went through 14 days of GC soaked food. I’m on day 22 in QT. Should I go another 14 or 21 with soaked food? What constitutes success? They displayed the first white poop after the original 14 days.

10 ml looks to be about 1/3 oz and according to the instructions for copper power that should be approx .9 concentration. Does this sound right. I will test it after I put in the copper but I don't want to over do this. 1st time for me.

Probably another 14 days. Then see if it's cleared up.

This might have been answered earlier, but how many doses of Metroplex (in the water column) are needed? Furan-2 is 4 doses and Kanaplex is 3. Both medicines clearly state this. But Metroplex has a short minimum and (I think) a three week maximum - 7 doses! Thanks for the help!

Hi, @HotRocks @4FordFamily or anyone else
I am on day 8 of copper treatment in tank #1. I have been feeding with GC/Focus laced food. The tank is a 40b and I have 2 small yellow tangs, a med purple tang and a small Copperband butterfly. Everyone was doing great, eating etc. In the last day the CBB has retreated to the pvc "cover" and is acting odd, sitting in the pvc with his body parallel to the bottom of the tank. He has started to quickly brush up against objects in the tank. I am thinking this may be an external parasite issue. What would you recommend I do? I have a good stockpile of the meds that were recommended. I really appreciate the help (The tank has an air stone, a power head agitating the surface and 2 hob filters with only bacteria laced sponges).

Sounds like flukes possibly. You could do a 5 min FW dip to confirm.

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/freshwater-dip.248898/

If flukes are present you can either continue 5 min FW dips as needed to provide relief or dose GC with copper.

I am in the second day of using Copper Power with Metroplex. I have a small clown and a small Kole Tang. The clown is eating but the Kole is not. He just hangs in the corner or in his PVC pipe. I have used a mixture of mysis, clam and garlic and also pellets. The clown will eat all of this but not the tang. Any suggestions?

Have you offered any nori?

Tangs will often eat nori before frozen foods. Sometimes flake as well.

So...was on day 13 of copper and 1 of my borbonius anthias died. The 2 other ones are doing great and the 2 davinchi clowns in there are fine???

Was going to transfer them to a new tank tomorrow.

What gives??? He was breathing a little heavy last night. Didn’t eat yesterday. No other signs.

Any ideas? Could it be the copper treatment? The copper level was around 1.75-1.85 the entire time.
