Have finished the sump. Next week will be cleaning out the basement of my current set up to get everything configured for this one. Then will get the basement plumbed out. Should have water in it in about 4-6 weeks. Will throw up some pictures of the progress over the weekend.

Cool!

Not too much. Have worked on enlarging some wholes for 1.5" ABS bulkheads and enlarging them by 1/16th of an inch to accommodate my 1.5" PVC bulkheads. This actually proved quite tricky. Also installed all bulkheads for both the overflow and the closed loop. Will plumb the overflow this weekend. Next will be to run 2 1.5" lines and a 2" line under my house and into my partial basement.

You find yourself watching the tank and glancing at the TV.

I am on cloud nine. Yesterday my wife surprised me and told me that she found and bought a 650 gallon acrylic tank. The guy who owned the tank has been in the hobby for over 30 years and has accumulated a tremendous amount of equipment. In the sale not only did I get the tank but I got to 90 gallon aquariums, a 55 gallon aquarium, and 3 30 gallon aquariums. I also got two large UV sterilizer's, a ET SS protein skimmer and multiple large pumps including an iwaki 100 R LT and a dolphin pump. I got all this for pennies on the dollar. It just shows the opportunities that you can come a crossed if you watch. This guy has some life circumstances that was forcing him out of the hobby and he was just wanting unload it as quick as possible.

I'm going to take this build very slow and I'll document every portion of it. I got a lot of the stuff back to my house yesterday and I'll go up on November 13 to get the tank and some other equipment. I plan on reaching out for input on certain selections such as synod and skimmers and maybe a few other ideas. Is by far the biggest system I've never tackled but I am absolutely excited and ecstatic about it. I'll post a few pictures below then I think sensational these are pictures sent by the seller but I'll keep this build thread going.

congrats on the new monster tank and all the equipment you got along with it. That’s a great find. Will be following your build.

Spent the day and ran a 2” PVC line under the crawl space from the tank to the basement which is about 25 ft. Also cleaned a bunch of old junk out of the basement and accidentally spilled about 20 gallons of water. No big deal as I punched it down the drain to the sump pump! Love having fish room in an unfinished basement! Once dried I will get the new sump down there and start plumbing that up! Also will begin disassembling and refinishing my light fixture.

So I am doing again. Taking tomorrow off work (making up for it by working the weekend) and working on the tank. I have cleaned out my dungeon of a basement and installed some improved lighting. Tomorrow I will get the sump and skimmer down there and getting all the plumbing connected.
