Well, after 20 years of being a moron, I've called it quits. I promised myself, and my family I would not smoke anymore as of Christmas. I had my last cigarette at 11:55p.m. Dec. 24th.
So far, I'm doing the nicorette gum, about a piece an hour to every hour and a half.
So far been a tad easier than I had expected, but I attribute that to really finally being ready to quit.
Besides the health problems that would be coming on fast as I age, I believe it was a combination of my daughters smiling face, and the financial realization of what I have wasted that is helping to keep me focused.
A quick calculation I did had me at $46,440 over the last 20 years up in smoke. And I'm sure I'm a few grand light in that estimation. Can you imagine the tank I could set-up with that cash!
Anyhow, wish me luck, and I'd love to hear from anyone else here who has quit. This will give me a place to check and a thread to report too in the trying times ahead.
I won't notice any savings for a couple months as nicorette costs the same as smokes, but you only get the nicotine and not the gazillion other poisons contained in the cigarettes.
Ok, thanks so much for this board of friends being here and it allowing me a spot to make this even more concrete. I figure it will be one thing to cheat myself, and another if I cheat on a few hundred members :)
Peace, Bryan
