Waterbox 20 gallon cube sps dominant
20 gallon used shallow frag tank for zoa
grow-out (8” x 18” x 32” if I remember correctly)
Nuvo 10 gallon cube on the bottom that’s still bare except for c.u.c. that I plan to use for BTAs
That cloud is my controller board. It lifts up to reveal my power strips, inkbirds, pump controllers, etc.

I currently have a Innovative Marine 30g… which I consider a Nano still. I upgraded from the Waterbox 10g. I love Nano tanks and love how easy they are to care for. Waterchanges are really easy. If anything gets out of wack it’s easy to get back on track really quick. I will always have a nano tank. I’m in college right now. So after I graduate I plan to get a big reef tank. But I will always love nanos.

I don’t know what I’m doing. With the camera or on this forum.

Is that lamp 3D printed? Or just fluffy cotton with leds behind it?

I'm attempting to recreate this setup with a 33 gallon long, I really like the look and feel of this scape however, where I'm stuck on the placement of the over flow box. Should it go along the back or, install it on one of the sides.
Thoughts or ideas?

Here’s my 28g bow front. It’s been up since august. HOB filtration. DIY HOB fuge. I’m pretty new at this but I enjoy this size tank more than the 46g in the living room. Maintenance is extremely easy, which I like.

I have a build thread for this one with pics of what it looked like when I built it more than 15 years ago. The inhabitants were lost in a flood in May and only recently got it going again. DIY tank is 7 gallons. DIY chest. 20L sump

Only a few small frags in it at the moment. CUC added yesterday and they are working on the algae shown in the pic. There is a link to the old build thread in my signature if anyone is interested (Pirate’s Reef).

This is what it grew into after the initial setup. I robbed a lot of it to put in my 140 when I got it set up.

That is super cool!

So this is the REEF2REEF Reefapalooza raffle grand prize 2014 in Orlando. A 29 Biocube. BTW, it came with some very hot dual Power Compact bulbs,( really hot). But still I’ve grown to love this set up and the working upgrades and down grades I’ve done to it. Well the whole build thread speaks for it. Currently just housing 7 Ultra RBTA’s and 1 yellow coris wrasse. The pair of Miami White clownfish are with their creator Miguel Hurtado, attempting to bring back Earlier bloodline.
I have really enjoyed keeping this Nano for going on 7 years now. It’s had its up and downs but now it’s tuned in again, just need my clowns back, I really miss them!

With a name like 'Nano sapiens' maybe I should post ;)

12g Nano_120221.jpg

12g, no mechanical or chemical filtration (just live rock and live sand), 13-1/2 years young :)

The reasons for having a nano have been gone over too many times to count, but a few of my personal favorites are:

1. 'Up close and engaging' experience. Even the smallest of creatures take center stage in a pico or small nano and there's a lot to see at this scale. I've kept various sizes of fresh and saltwater aquaria over the decades and the ones that have kept my interest the longest are often the smallest. I mean, would you ever notice this little beastie in a 100g?

12g Eunice Worm_112920.jpg

2. Refinement of reef keeping skills. Keeping a true mixed reef nano (stonies, softies, mushies, zoas, etc.) for well over a decade has caused me to revaluate what I thought I knew about reef aquaria on multiple occasions (have had larger fish only, fish/invert and true reef systems in the past).

For those who climb the reef keeping mountain top and yell, "Go big or go home" I say "Go small and get out the magnifier" ;)

An older photoof my 5g pico
901B7933-8B47-487D-BDD0-2FCB43D02ECA.jpeg

And the 29 g biocube- this was the first photo after I transferred everything over from the old tank that started leaking. It does not this good now though, a bacterial
Bloom caused the majority of mushrooms to detached from the rocks.

the 24g aquapod before it started leaking. So many shrooms the clownfish would hide and play in them

Waterbox 30.2 AIO Mixed Reef tank

I’ve always been drawn to nano reefs due to the appeal of 1) the “coolness factor” of looking at a small cube of water with so much awesome color and diversity of life, 2) Ease of water changes and maintenance, and most importantly, 3) My wife lets me have it where I can see it everday by entrance to our house due to its small footprint….lol.
