Okay not building yet just planning

I think was thinking about building either a 24"x 24" fixture or i don't know yet.

I would have a LEDs at every 2 1/2". I think that's correct.

Should I build bigger fixture? Smaller? How many LED do you think I will need?

I'm planning on having a good amount of lps and some sps thrown in there.

I planned on going to reef LED lights. I was thinking about getting the high noon kit as well.
I obviously want moonlights.
I also want to be able to dim them with a knob. Like be able to just twist a knob and dim them. I saw a driver before that could do it.

Thanks guys

Sorry guys.

Its 36x36x18"

I want it manually dimmable. Don't want to buy a new controller.

Two 18" Fixtures will give you the coverage.

Optics choice will depend on how high the fixture is.

Two 36 LED Kits on each heatsink will work quite well. You should be good with one High Noon split between the two heatsinks. This will give you a minimum of 150 PAR at the sand bed so acclimate well.

For Manually Dimmable the Inventronics Driver rocks. It only needs a pot. The ELN 60-48D is manually dimmable with a Radio Shack Enercell AC-DC power adapter #273-315.

That would only be 18x17" fixture

Is that really enough?

Or should I have each fixture spaced apart from each other?

No i knew what you meant. two 18"x 8" fixture equals one big 18" x 16" fixture doesn't seem like its big enough. I really don't want it 4ft above the tank.
