Sorry,
First two clownfish added came from my old tank which were bought years ago from TMC.
Second clownfish bought after they died from LFS in Glasgow. Didn’t buy a pair as I knew this might happen.

Was there any palythoa coral in that tank and on that rock before it was shut down. I read a couple Stories on here about the toxin lasting on dry walk forever and nuking a tank when put back in…

Just a thought. You say you got the fish and rock from a tank take down. You put the fish in an existing tank until now and are reuniting them with the old rock in the red sea tank correct? Bet those rocks are leaching out into the new tank water. Do you have a copper test kit? If the old tank was treated with copper.Or potentially other contaminants as well. Over time it may have built up in the rock. Now leaching out in large quantities. Good luck ;)
To clarify, I don’t think it was the drip as these fish are not shipped I assume? It sounds like you had these fish in another tank for awhile?
I certainly don’t advise dripping shipped fish. I know dr reef and biota also say not to drip.
Really though, toss a hermit crab in. Maybe 3.
How soon after tank set up did you add the first pair? I ask in case first pair was lost to ammonia and second one was unrelated and just a sick/poor specimen.

My cousin had a tank that did the exact same thing, water tested perfect. It ended up being stray voltage from a power head. I know in your first comment on this post you stated you checked for stray voltage. How did you check?

No they weren’t shipped. Yes they were in the other tank for a while. I made sure to cross test the cycle between 3 different brands of test kit so definitely not that. The thing that gets me is they all die in the same way. With this fin rot thing

Gotcha, no chance maybe the heater was not on due to the thermostat not calling for it or something like that while you were testing is there? I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

There’s 4 different heat sensors in the tank, so doubt that’s a problem.

Yes, but I couldn’t tell you what was the issue. I added curibsorb, poly, loads of carbon and left the tank for a month. Now the tank is thriving covered in coralline algae already.

When people move tanks. and move liverock and sand and other items from old tank to new. sometimes hydrogen sulphide gas is released from pockets its been trapped in. It does dissolve in water for a short time and will kill the fish if its in a decent amount. Fish will act like drunk and loopy and finally pass after few hours.
