Thanks everyone!

I’m passing on it.

A clown was snuggling in it but I’m not sure.

Oh this is in LFS?
Kinda good cause I was looking at the crushed coral...

What exactly are you unsure of?
What clowns do you have?

While LTA are not a natural match for all clowns, they often are taken fairly quickly by most, and being sand dwellar easier to contain and keep from corals. Also max at 18" makes them more doable for most tanks.

Malu is another good option, and they max at 8-10", and usually very bright colors.

I have 2 ocelaris clowns.

I have a RBTA, but they could care less and it’s been 8 months.

Is it possible for them to take to a LTA?

My experience is both occs and percs have taken to both LTA and Malu much faster than BTA

Thanks! I guess I was spoiled with my prior tank......see my avatar!

So, do LTA’s really need a 4” sand bed?

I have 2-3” where I would attempt to keep one.

I see AquaSD has some very nice LTA’s and I have heard of good results from there.

3-4" is good, maybe add some sand in the area you wish, but you may be fine as is.
LTA seem to like sand but close to rockwork, and if you can a cove type area, and or ledge area so they can pull in or out of light as needed, but not a must, they just tend to stay where placed if given these conditions.

ASD stuff looks good in pics...their knowledge of nems last time I was there was not as good as it may have been w/ corals, but it's about that way w/ many LFS
Sometimes what comes may not look as good as in pics, so I personally prefer to see in person for such purchases

Thanks very much. I’ve had/have, rbta’s, Mini maxi’s, and rock flowers.

This would be my 1st LTA so I appreciate the guidance:)

So here is the cove, right behind the clam which I would move along with the rock flower. I can add sand here easily.

I’m assuming there is good enough lighting there since the clam does well and it has good shell growth.

Up against the rock with a ledge above.

I can take par readings if needed.

What do you think?
