Has anyone had this issue with their trident? I tried to calibrate using calibration solution and it fails every time. I have the bottle inches away from the normal spot for the sample line. I prime the sample line and then try to calibrate. I get test A error. When I use my tank numbers and run calibration it will complete calibration without failing. No issues testing.

The trident is only a couple months out from the trident service program.

Don’t quote me as I don’t know s*** but I have read that if the numbers are far off (meaning last test readings vs what you’re calibrating to) that you can get this error. I read that people will split the difference a couple times to get it going. So say your last test was 8.0/400/1400, and your calibrating to 12.0/500/1500, then break it down and first calibrate to say 9.0/450/1450, then if that works calibrate again to the final numbers. That said, I believe quite a few of us have stopped using the calibration fluid a long time ago and calibrate to the tank (after manual testing for verification). Even abc reagents stopped shipping calibration fluid and states to cal to the tank.

Edit, this is assuming we’re talking trident and not trident np

I have had this happen to me, but I was calibrating with my tank water and not calibration solution. It never gave me any kind of error while calibrating, it just didn’t change my new test results to what I had just calibrated my tank water to. They went back to about the same as they were before calibrating. I then did what you suggested and calibrated multiple times in steps until I got the values I wanted.

Usually anytime I have had test failed errors I have been able to fix them by flushing the tubing, making sure no hoses are kinked, and checking the inlet filter. I love the trident but it can definitely be finicky at times.

Yeah I came thiiiiisss close to throwing mine a couple weeks back. I did the diy service. Wrapped up and tried calibrating….test a fail. Thought I messed something up, took it apart, re did a few things, calibrate, test a fail. Over and over and over. I finally broke down a called support. Ends up anytime you perform a shutdown, like you have to when performing the service, it basically resets the unit and you’re starting as if it’s brand new and you have to run it five days before you can calibrate. Nowhere did I read that! I second guess myself at every turn nowadays with my issues, so I truly thought I messed up.

That’s the thing it’s been running for two months and I calibrated with the original solution they included with the reagents around a week after receiving the trident. No isssues. Now I get test A fail when using calibrate solution but when I use my tank water numbers it works fine. Just trying to figure out why it fails with calibration solution but not tank water

I was using calibration solution that has an alk of 6.6 but I didn’t think that would cause it to fail with the user entering the numbers for each before starting the calibration. Maybe that is the problem the alk was so different t than the last test reading.
