Hello,
I hope this is correct place to put this post, if not pls advise correct web place.....
I'm planning to arrange an Hybrid Jaubert tank (40 gallon - 39,4 inch *11,8*19,7 inch ). Presently tank is empty.
Next:
- i'lll start filling with water+salt,
- Then abt 2 cms ceramic beads
- Then a "mosquito net" around all surface,
- Then abt 1'5 cm fine aragonite sand (to avoid oxigen to arrive to ceramic beads),
- Then abt 4 cms of aragonite big size mixed with aragonite medium size
- Then abt 4 cms "mosquito net"
- Then abt 4 cms of aragonite big size
- Then Rocks
I always commenced previous project including rock, as more consistent rock structure if placed at bottom, BUT at Jaubert system understand better not to touch bottom/plenum with nothing (including rocks), so understand better at surface.....
I read tt no need to use different substrates, anyway i have no problem to use it, if i understnad correctly Jaubert, at each deph/subtrate will be "used" by different bacteria/worms/etc
I plan to use more water movement than reccomended by Jaubert, so for this reason i use a more little substrate at last parcel of sustrate, to avoid oxygen to arrive to "plenum"
"plenum" is not used really, is sustituted by Ceramic beds, because i read tt last Jaubert method revision advised tt Plenum is not needed really and can be sustituted by ceramic beds or a few cms of fine sand instead.....
I always added in my previous aquariums air pump and air stone, i'll add also to this project, specially at night.
As i have Hydra filter available, MAYBE I might use it to reduce algae, etc., during the tank maturation (the results with the Hydra and Berlin are amazing). Also I will definitely add a small skimmer (both during and after the tank maturation).
I will also put some rocks - abt 48 lbs- (leaving a lot of free surface). The rocks are from Australia and I'll arrange some rocks-organization so as not to take up too much surface area and have enough surface area for some corals.
I plan to use for "easy corals", maybe if in a long future tank is as stable as expected, maybe i'll introduce more sophisticated corals, but this is not a priority, i'll be happy with a tank for "easy" corals,
I accept (maybe request) any idea/reccomendation for this project, as i have no any experience in this tank method, so any feed back will be higly appreciated,
Thanks for reading and commenting
