I love these lights so much that me and rick talk every now and then. He is such a nice man. I even called and email him about hanging and he answered my within the hour and i am talking 10:30 at night. Some corals i had to trade snd give to friends. Everything is growing hence the upgrade to my 220. So this works for me. I love the corals growth and color. Last night my brother said. " oh my god your bubble tip is growing too big". I laughed and said yes that's why i got a big tank now about to cycle lol. I would love if you see this light in person because you will get a first hand experience of them. But sometimes you got to take s chance. ..If you don't like them, at least you tried., and there is nothing wrong with trying. And then use what worked for you in the past.

Very much so. I pull very rich, intense color with my t5.

Nice. I tried so many bulbs. Maybe ill try the ati's. I have a couple white ones. But none of the ati actinic, blue, or purple

Thankyou! That's the info I need. Finally. Length of time and all lights used. So the lumatek is defanitly good for at least 7 months. All by itself. That's awsome. Its made by reef radiance? How does it compare to the dm-165+? I have a 40b display as well! Getting excited again. :-D

The difference between my Reef Radiance LumenTek Pro180 & the DM-165p+ are wattage and control. My LumenTek is 180w (obviously) and is not compatible with a controller.
If the DM-165p+ were available when I was in the market it would probably be hanging over my tank now-lol. But I am so very happy with my lights! I do have control of all 3 channels via a remote :)

In my opinion and briefly playing with it. first you get better spread because of the 120 optics which you can change by the way, wifi so mo more remote,just your phone. My lumentek pro 120 has 40 leds, 165p+ has 55. My lumentek put's out 120 watt max, the 165p+ has 165 watts. But i don't run my lumentek at 100 percent so watts doesn't matter to me.

Your other forum was half right. They don't have UV. T5 bulb emit a super tiny amount of UV, and*MH*bulbs emit quite a lot.The bit about them not working will depend on your own personal Blue thumb. They can work fine if you're able to maintain excellent water control, stability, and thoughtful coral fish and invert stocking

Rick did NOT stop using the LumenTek lights. He refused to pass the increase in price onto the customer. So he discontinued them :)
LumenTek has 120 degree optics. What separates one series from the other is controllability and wattage.
Please have your facts straight when passing them along.

Hate to be a bummer, but I would stick with the T5's or at least try to integrate them into the LED's as a combo system.* Cheap LED's are precisely that.* These systems are the Chinese Evergrow systems and may or may not have UV chips.* If they do not dome with UV already, you may be able to have them added to the array, but the efficiency of UVA and UVB in common inexpensive LED systems is not as good as T5 yet.* For a quality LED system that incorporates proper UV spectrum look into Radion and Kessil.

Sorry man!* Like I said, wasn't tryin' to be a bummer, LOL!The problem with the LED's has been that it takes a long time to see the negatives.* You are likely to see a lot of people online post very positive reviews with the excitement of a new item and then when they see the negatives six month's to a year later rarely post information saying that they made a mistake.* Especially if there may be a spouse or some other potential "told ya so!" lurking out there.*I have had no experience directly with Reef Radiance, but the product is literally made by evergrow.* The same thing with Reef Breeders which us another popular distributor of this light fixture.* We brought in a bunch of these fixtures from Evergrow a year or two ago and had them made with a custom array with more expensive UV chips in them.* They were pretty good for the most part with a couple of issues in some of the fixtures right out of the box.* We still have them over a couple of our freshwater clients tanks, but have removed them from our reef clients tanks and upgraded to Kessil and T5 combo's or Kessil only set ups where the T5's don't fit.

This reefer is incorrect on a number of items and generalizes a lot on others. I am heading out to lunch with my grandkids - and will address most of this later - but let me address two things now:

1. Reef Radiance lights are not made by Evergrow - we sell Evergrow as a separate item on our site under the name Evergrow - so there is no confusion. Reef Breeders is made by Evergrow and sold as Reef Breeders. He has no idea of our company or our lights and should not be making statements with which he has no experience.

2. Since photosynthesis is the catalyst that powers coral growth - if a light does not provide enough of this - in the form of Photosynthetically Active Radiation - commonly shortened to PAR - then you will notice very quickly a decrease in coral health and growth. It is very much like not feeding your dog - or feeding him or her very little - you will see their energy level drop and they will lose weight and will adopt a listless attitude. The same is true for coral with respect to lighting. What we see long term is not sufficient calcium ( and other key nutrients ) that coral need to grow and a lack of proper nutrition and insufficient attention to water quality over the long term.

It is clear this hobbyist knows a little - but sad that he is drawing mistaken conclusions and posting them as credible.

That's why I came here. To find truth. And you can be sure I will pass it along. :-) it would be more upsetting if I was not going to set it straight. So no worries. I'm sure he has no ill intent. If anything he is just generalizing. Which I agree is not good. But I promise Ihe is a genuinly good guy. I will help get clarity. And if the light performs as well as I think it will I will sing its praises on all my forums. :-) I know its upsetting to hear untrue things. But be relieved I brought it to the sourceand we will correct it. Instead of it going uncorrected. I'm sry to upset you. I would be too. But it will be corrected. Maybe it is for the best. Squash it now.:-)

Most t5 people eventually add blue led strip to get that color pop everyone wants. I run the dm165e and have pe that i didnt see under t5 and coral growth. Leds just take more patience to dial in but once in they are great. You may have to upgrade your heater since there is the the heat issue.

Great point made! So many wanting that instant gratification or the easy peezy way! These lights take time and patience to dial in. But the savings alone make them well worth it! :)

Almost a year with my 165p+'s. All corals are growing. Tank is doing fantastic. All in all I'm very happy with the switch! :-D
