Hello, I am new ish to this hobby (about a year and a half) and I have started a new tank. Currently I’m using a 20g cube tank with a 10g sump and I’m switching to a waterbox cube 20. My current tank is very diy and has caused me lots of trouble and I’m finally switching to something more visually appealing. I have been cycling the new tank for a month using dr Tim’s method and finally feel It has gotten to a point where I can comfortably add my two clowns. The problem I now face is a lack of knowledge on moving coral from tank to tank. After I feel the tank is completely cycled and do not see ammonia for a few weeks how should I move the corals? Currently I have a mixed tank with a few hardy sps but all lps corals after that. 3 torches, 3 hammers, 2 Scolymia, 2 large Acanthastrea colonies and about 6 single acan pollups. As I am tearing down my old tank would throwing everything in at the same time risk everything more then going one at a time week by week? Understand the hardyness and my love for each coral was my thought for when to move what.

Are you moving your rocks over to the new tank? The rocks would insta-cycle the tank for you. If you move your rocks over, then move your livestock over as well, they will be fine.

Since you're moving from a 20 gallon to a 20 gallon, I assume you keep the same light? So should be no need to acclimate the corals to the lights.

So if you move your lights, your rock, and use your existing water, then its basically the same tank, no need to acclimate, just move everything over. (except the sand, be careful with the sand, if you use your old sand, rinse it out very well)

I chose to do new rocks and sand due to some pests i have in the tank that I do not want to carry over. Light will stay the same. Since I’m not carrying over the rocks should I trickle the coral in?
