New tank not level!

Almost made a mess, didn't realise the other tank has low overflow slots..

Do some measurements now, and compare to after you drain the tank so you know you found the problem. Whatever the issue is I would expect it to spring back after you drain it.

Well I drained most out, planning on shim strip on front side, will brace the joist in the basement in the morning.

Hopefully early afternoon I can start filling again....

Looks like a diamond goby to me. Just not quite as well colored as some, but that could be stress related.

And I'm glad you have a plan in place. Good luck in making it happen!

Bracing off the joist sounds good. A level on the bottom of the joist should show deflection but I would like a string line from one end of the joist too the other end or at least as far as you can reach. The joist should be straight along the entire length. I like too have a string on when I brace it too make sure it doesnt deflect either direction. I put a tank on a carpet tack strip once and I cut the carpet and tack strip out around the tanks footprint and that worked for me. Good luck!

With his eyes up top like that, your fishy friend looks more like a blenny to me than a goby. Look up "red spot blenny", and see if the images look familiar . . .

Good call on draining that tank to brace & shim!

I'm in the early stages of setting up for a big (220g) tank now, and picked up a couple of those Tiger jackpoles right off the bat. Not taking any more chances than I have to; those things are inexpensive insurance!

you said that the back of the tank is on the wall right. and tanks is 18"?
ok well if that's the case... joists are on 16" centers. if the tank is over the wall it's possible your missing the 2nd joist so the front of the tank is only on the plywood. I had same prob with my tank.
i used a car jack and a 2x8 on the plywood and jacked it up till was where i liked it and then put posts up so as it wouldn't go anywhere..
i can try and draw out what i meen if you like and helps

I bought a basement Jack post and will be putting a full length shim along the front under the stand to level it.

The from of the tank is just past the 2nd joist, while the back is over the joist that sits on my block wall in the basement. Pretty conident once I get this Jack in and shim I will have a stable floor and aquarium
