Okay so I have a 200 gallon Tank right now and I’m curious on switching to a new DT.

I’m wondering how and what’s the best thing to do when change into a new tank.

I’m curious about my corals and anemone. I know I can set up a tank and have it ready for my fish in a week already cycled but with anemones and certain corals your tank needs to be cycled for awhile.

1#What should I do? Should I add half of my water now and new water together? Like 50/50 or what?

2# Also should I be using the same rocks for my new DT?

I wanna be ready and know what to do when switching DT.

Stocking in DT Now:
Scopas tang
Maroon clown
Snowflake eel
Tiny green spotted puffer
Condy orange and green anemone
Zoas
2 Xenia

225, not to big of a difference
It should be fine to just swap everything over. No need to worry about cycling or anything.

The best way to swap everything over is to add new, rinsed sand, since you don’t want to use old sand in the new tank. Fill with new water or old water, it doesn’t really matter. just make sure the parameters match your old tank if you use new water. Then move over the rocks and corals, and finally transfer the fish.

So it’ll be okay to transfer most of the water I have in the DT right now and put in the new?

I just want to make sure everything I’ll be doing is going to be right.

Also I’m wondering what size sump should I use for this tank? I’ve never used a sump before on any tank, fresh/salt.

It’s completely fine to transfer all the water. I would just add 25 gallons of new water to the new tank before hand so it fills up completely.

If you have the room I would do a 90-100 gallon sump, but a 75-80 gallon sump would suffice.

Perfect I love it, also I have another question, I’m watching a video on some information and I got curious. What’s the best thing to do for my corals if a parasite or disease comes into the DT?

It depends on the parasite/disease. Some illnesses you can treat in your DT without effecting corals. But let’s say you get one that you have to use copper (which is toxic to coral and inverts) to treat. You have to remove all fish, put them in a separate tank, and leave your main display with no fish for 76 days.

So with a tank this size that will probably have over 15 fish, IMO it is best to quarantine all fish before you put them into your DT so you never have to deal with that. Not required of course, but it’s what I would do.
