Welcome! Lots of good advice already! Cycle first, fish later.

I always like a Nerite snail or two plus maybe a Bristlenose pleco although your tank is on the small side.

Cory Cats can be good but I prefer the khuli loaches.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!
Note that this forum is usually for reef tanks (so saltwater aquaria) and they are quite different from freshwater tanks. You can't put the stuff you see on this forum in your tank (and vice versa) or it will die.

I'm sure many community members still have some experience with freshwater as this is what most people start with, but you might still find a better place for guidance about a freshwater tank.

You are of course still welcome here, just be careful not to get dragged into a saltwater tank next ;)

Hello everyone, My wife and I are trying to slowly get into having a fresh water tank in our home, Our kids love seeing them when we go to the dentist. We bought a 20 gallon high tank and we believe we have everything we need. She is wanting to get Red eye Tetras and like 2-3 bottom feeders. But we have no idea how to start or what to do from here. This is our tank we have setup. ANy ideas or tips would be appreciated!

The setup is quite basic. You can use tap water along with stress coat added which is a water conditioner. Allow the filter to circulate a day or two and add one teaspoon of epsom salt or aquarium salt per 10 gallons (not sea salt) and if tank is clear, you can add fish.
Tetras area great and colorful group and in addition to red eye, You can add a couple:
Rummy nose tetra
Neon tetra
Lemon tetra

Corydora cat for scavenging and a small plecostumus for algae, even an apple snail
