I'm about to get the 30w for my 5g. I was hoping to find PAR info on these but haven't found anything so far. I guess it will be trial and error. :-)Interesting thread, I picked up a 50W for my 20G Long 13" deep, and no one has put up PAR readings for these lights, does anyone have such PAR readings ? Or is everyone doing trial and error approach ...
Dont remember exact number , but it was around 200 par on bottom of 75gallon tank but not alot of spread with the 30wattI'm about to get the 30w for my 5g. I was hoping to find PAR info on these but haven't found anything so far. I guess it will be trial and error. :)
Thanks for this! I plan to use the 30w on a 5g. Hopefully it's not too powerful. The tank is 16"L x 11"H x 6.5"D. It's an AIO so 8.5"D with the built in sump.Dont remember exact number , but it was around 200 par on bottom of 75gallon tank but not alot of spread with the 30watt
Did not use it much, i had an anenome in a fish only tank so i needed light for it, since the lights on that tank only put out about 20 par. The Nicrew 30 has alot of power but is adjustable if you use their $14 timer and it controls both channels so you can adjust accordingly to reduce if necessary and adjust whites and blues. Thanks for this! Do/Did you like the light? This is my first tank. Currently it's fish only but I hope to add some beginner coral once the tank stabilizes and this looks like a light that can handle a pico and beginner coral.
Thanks so much!! I'm glad to read your positive experience with them. I'm going to order one. I did read somewhere about the controller only be compatible with the 30w so thanks for confirming that. Supposedly they're designing one for their more powerful lights which is good because that was the biggest complaint I saw about them. Given the price I'm not expecting much but the fact you're still using them is good enough for me. :-)Did not use it much, i had an anenome in a fish only tank so i needed light for it, since the lights on that tank only put out about 20 par. It does have small spead though, should be perfect area for any pico type tanks.
My reef tank is a 125, on it i have two nicrew 100watts and a viparspectra. The nicrews have better color, but need an additional timer or controller, the little nicrew timer will not work with anything bigger than 30watt.
I know this thread is old but did you ever figure this out?Just bought the 50w version, should have it today. Anyone try the A series controller? I know it calls for the X series, but the 0-10v is basic on both controllers as they only control legacy lights. Did they ever come out with a controller for the 50w and higher lights?
Correct. I DIY'ed the cable, but it's the same. I control blue/white ramp up and down with the Apex 0-10v.Just to confirm, the Kessil cable with an Apex VDM should work in controlling these right?
Just check youtube for your particular modelI bought the hyper reef 30w light for my fluval spec 3. I mounted it to the wall instead of the tank because it is quite heavy and I didn’t want to risk breaking the tank if I knocked it. The desk moves up and down so I can control distance to the light.
i have a PAR meter but I don’t know how to take a measurement with it. I’m happy to take measurements if someone can help me use it.
i bought the Nicrew 2 channel timer but it hasn’t arrived yet.
So far I am happy with the light

Did this cable work? Have heard people say it does and doesnt. Still in love with the lights. Great value if you already have the apex!Just to confirm, the Kessil cable with an Apex VDM should work in controlling these right?
