I acquired some rock quite some time ago from a buddy for a separate much larger project. Since it never got used, it’s time!

10:1 tap water:Clorox bleach ratio

About 20 gallons of water, a pump, and some 90° Nebraska heat should do the trick.
Here’s the link I followed for instructions:

Thank you! Surprisingly got it mounted in under 3 hours.
Are you Greek by chance? Just asking because of your username.
Lol yes. It used to be my front plate on one of my cars (also into modifying cars, to add to the list of expensive hobbies). Got pulled over once and the cop was also unfortunately Greek haha. You can imagine how that conversation went lol. The translation to save people the google search in the sense that I was using it: "Uncatchable"

That’s fantastic lol. Great story. I’m also into modified cars. Currently have a twin turbo G35. What car/cars do you have and where in Greece are you from?

From Chios, you?

List is long lol:
2004 Acura RSX Type S FBO plus tune (219 hp 159 lb-ft @ the wheels) fun little car to throw around
2009 BMW 128i (brain fart, just liked the way it looked)
2014 WRX Hatch FBO plus some and tune (372 hp 349 lb-ft @ the wheels) definitely my favorite and fastest car, unfortunately spun a rod bearing and never rebuilt it as much as I regret that.
2017 GTI 4-Door (stuck with stage 1+ Unitronics tune)
2021 Acura TLX AWD Aspec - not the fastest and first automatic car, but settling down and hope to start a family soon so decided to compromise some expensive hobbies. That being said, it is flashed to an off the shelf stage 1 map for about 260 hp and 300 lb-ft at the wheels. I can't help myself haha

Edit: Only had 1 at a time. This was the history sorry.

Born in Athena. Mom from Epidavros and Dad from Iraklion.
My G35 is my first car with any mods under the hood. Having overheating issues now so don’t get me started

Took embarrassingly long to make all these cuts but it’s done. Time to test fit the tank then to figure out the cabinet doors which have been a mental block for me

Today will forever be known as the day I ticked off Poseidon!
If it involved water...something went wrong.
Ill walk you through the day with pictures

Drilling the return holes with a homemade template. I used the BRS information from the description under their bulkheads. The Way that I understood it was that for a three-quarter inch bulkhead, as long as your hole is between 34 and 52 mm the bulkhead would work. Their kit comes with a 35 mm. I had a 40 mm and figured that still allows enough space to make contact with the gasketBut the guy who came to plumb my set up disagreed. Ultimately I went with a schedule 80 3/4 inch bulkhead as it will fit perfectly in this hole. As I write this, I’m still considering going with a schedule 40 1” bulkhead instead since my return pump came with fittings for a 1 inch return. Probably going to call BRS in the morning and see if they can help me with the decision.

Time to set up the RODI unit. I found it interesting on the website that they charged $20 more when you buy the value plus kit which comes with the in-line TDS meter and the pressure gauge pre-installed so I figured I could do that myself to save $20. It’s not much but you all know how it adds up

Some interesting collections on the filter of my bathroom sink. Actually looks like sand grains

My little helpers all wondering what’s in the trash can

Some overflow security. It’s funny that I say this because I later came back and found, I’ll be at minimal, some leaking from the RODI unit. Not as bad as what you are about to see below...
FDB33CF5-F693-46D4-A57C-8445E1E0FD2F.jpeg

I was rinsing out the rock which was still sitting in a brute trashcan about 8 feet away from this basement egress window. By the time I came back to check on it, the water had flowed uphill and filled this window well with approximately 9 inches of water. Luckily I had a water pump which I was using to move water around the rock and was able to pump out the water fairly quickly.
I was not impressed with how the day was going and luckily my wife recommended that we eat some steak

70B0F9AE-2085-4D26-B08F-DBB2DB2B9241.jpeg
overall, I nearly flooded my basement from the outside in, my brand new RODI unit was leaking, my neighbor came over to inform me that her landscape guy believes that my buried gutter extension pipe is flooding her lawn, and then it started to rain while I had my “race car” outside with the hood up charging the dead battery. I’m telling you, if there was water involved today, it went terribly wrong. Just keep swimming?

I am making this post separate from the post above as I am really hoping I can come back here and delete it. I made a separate post in regards to my plumbing as I was dissatisfied to say the least. I didn’t want to risk flooding the house so I had one of the employees from a local fish store come by to do the plumbing. Really nice kid but I guess expectations were not met and I’m concerned that this thing it’s going to be loud the way it is currently plumbed. I was expecting a bean animal set up as I was unaware the result I received was even a possibility. Sure I am to blame for not going over his exact plan but again I didn’t think there was an option when you have three return pipes and just assumed unfortunately. It was suggested to me on my other thread that a valve gets placed before the union on the far right return pipe. It was also suggested that I insert standpipes in the far right and middle returns within the overflow box. These suggestions were exactly what I was expecting. I’m hoping the standpipes without the valve insertion on the far right tube will work to avoid cutting into the existing plumbing at this time but I’m afraid I won’t get away with that.

I would really really appreciate any input as to what I should do at this point in time!

Emergency drain in the same chamber of the main drain and you have to add a gate valve to the main drain.

What’s the reason for the emergency drain in the same chamber? I’ve seen many instances where it was actually recommended to be in a separate chamber but not completely sure why. Also there is a ball valve right after he joined the 2 returns but you just can’t see it because the handle faces the opposite direction. Is that what you are talking about or do you think I need to get a valve on both the returns?

I am so happy I decided to use the chat function on bulk reef supply website to get some answers for my plumbing! I honestly can’t believe they are able to maintain a Service like this. I sent pictures and they responded with exactly what I needed to hear. They also pointed me towards this link to accomplish my plumbing which was a fantastic video. I will include the link below:

9E3B06CE-E585-4759-971E-78F0E26193A6.jpeg

This is where I left off tonight. Everything is just drive fitted. The check valves are from bulk reef supply. I disconnected the previous plumbing at the union and basically scrapped everything else besides the emergency plumbing
5BA09391-07DA-4DAB-B7F5-55E71E309E47.jpeg

This was tedious but I managed to get it to fit. Either the prodigy L was built for thicker aquariums or it’s just too slim in general. If you look really closely you can see that I had to sand The face of the PVC fittings and angle them to get them to fit between the front of the overflow box and the back of the threads on the bulkhead. I also had to cut the 90° fittings shorter to decrease the overall length and get everything to fit. I still need to extend the emergency pipe up just a little bit higher and I unfortunately got the wrong Plug for the top of the Durso style return so I will pick that up tomorrow. Overall I’m fairly satisfied with what I got done today. Now the hunt continues for a gate valve because I couldn’t find one at Home Depot for the life of me!

It’s been a few days since I’ve come here to talk to myself! I’m just kidding. I realize I haven’t posted anything that exciting to comment on. Anyways here’s an update

please let me know if anybody sees something of concern in regards to the plumbing. I plan on filling with tapwater tomorrow to make sure there are no leaks and to fine tune the overflow. Everybody pray with me that it all works out so that I can be carrying a dry aquarium upstairs tomorrow to get filled with salt water!

Aw, you’re not talking to yourself. If your tread is like mine you’re talking to at least 3 people :p. I’ve been watching, great job so far. Can’t really comment on the plumbing as I’ve only ever run AIO but it all looks good.
