When most say old they think of CFL or MH. But since I started using LEDS in 2012 some of my Leds are old, for me 8 years is old.
My office tank which has had good times and bad, bad happened when cleaning crew splashed water on my plug strip and I lost power for two days and killed all my SPS, some Lps, and all fish except for a male clownfish. For a year I tried to fix with some luck, but algae won out. So I started over by moving rock out, and bleaching the tank. I was tired of the look so I went with just two of the Build my Leds which I purchased in 2015. I didn’t want to add back the third which was blue actinic, nor did I want to add back the Orphek Bar. Months ago I placed an order for a XR15 G5 Pro. With all the horror stories of broken cases and apps not working I wanted to cancel but didn’t. Glad I didn’t the combination is awesome with a Par reading 350 on the clam and 200 to the far right and left on the sand. The brains are much happier with the increase in Par levels. I like the fact the XR15 sits perfectly on top of the two BML’s which makes for a clean look with sitting low on the tank versus 7” like recommended. Being in my office no blinding effects or complaints from my boss. The tank is 36” x 20” x 21 tall” and the scene is PHX14 with power set at 50%.
