Hello all my 6 month ish old yellow tang has an open wound on his flank that won’t go away. It seems to start to get better some days then looks worse other days. Had been about the same size for about a month +. Looks like a white hole but not on the head or lateral line. (I don’t run carbon) any possible diagnosis or possible treatment would be appreciated. Thank you. Sorry for the bad pic.

Looks to be a bite mark, and likely from a clown or tang such as powder blue based on the appearance.
What other fish are in tank with it?

There are a mated pair of clowns but they only occasionally mess with each other and I have a blue eye Kole tang. The yellow is not constantly beat up or anything this is just a persistent wound that won’t heal. I will work on a better pic

Clear white light only photos and / or video will help.

Little better pic
Thanks, that pic helps....

I've seen those lesions before, but usually smaller and more numerous. They seem static in the cases I've had - they don't grow in size or change much over time. I call them "divots". I don't know the cause, but they don't typically require treatment......could just be how these fish show scars.

Ok yes it really hasn’t grown just won’t go away he is eating and swimming like normal and doesn’t seem affected so, I guess I’ll just monitor closely.
