I got one hermit I didn't notice was different when I reupped on blue legs. He has orange tentacles and a tealish body with horizontal gray stripes down his legs. No bigger currently than a blue leg. Is he a safe guy to have around? Thanks!

So, full disclosure, I do have 4 resident porcelain crabs in my 25 gallon lagoon. Filter feeders with claws makes me go , "Hmmmm." But so far so good. Also, they were hitchhikers. I would not BUY a crab.
I get that. I have always been a "risk it for the cool invert" camp if it's not particularly aggressive and generally okay. I've found crabs are pretty well behaved (even my old hitchhiker gorilla) if the tank is well-fed

porcelains are totally safe. They don't even really use the claws for anything except a show of force if somebody encroaches. But they stopped even doing that when they got used to the rest of the inhabitants for me at least. They don't even bother my 1/2" masked gobies which occasionally swim right up to the crabs. Also no aggression with a coral banded shrimp or any snails, corals, or hermit crabs.

Small hermits can't possibly do much damage. They may attack snails here and there but it's not like it will cause a nightmare overnight.
