Pavona frondifera

I am guessing it is a sps. But i would have thought that leptoseris was a sps too. Anyway i just purchased a nice shaped Pavona frondifera a nice mint green color and was wondering on the light and flow level. Several sites have opposite information.

This species seems to be where the conflict of lighting and flow contradict. I spoke with a friend and since the Pavona frondifera i have is an ora figured best to visit their site. The Pavona frondifera is low/med light and flow which is the opposite of the pavona cactus.

The pictures do not do justice, located in shady area of tank. The delicate wavy branching effect is unique.

That's my coral! Sweet! :) Don't remember seeing this come from them or being listed on ORA's website back when I got it, but back then ORA's site was garbage and given the place I got it they would be a logical source.

Guess over time mine's been in just about all combinations of conditions. While he never looked stressed or unhappy, he did stay pretty pale under high-light conditions, and he just never grew very fast under any conditions.

I did manage to propagate an accidental frag a year or more ago - same growth rate in the new location.

I will say both are greening up nicely in response to my "water change a day" experiment.

Oh! They may grow faster in "dirtier" water - never really had any fish in this system to try that.

Sweet I got the same from I don't remember at MACNA. It was 3/4 encrusting on the plug til last week I broke it off so now I have 2 well see how long it takes to branch up off the plug.

It is called "mint green pavona" on the ora site. However their color green is not what mine is. It has colored up a lot since i got it. It seems to be a slow grower, unlike the potato chip coral. Not as hairy looking either. Mine always seems to have feeders or sweepers out. So i guess it liked its location in the tank. Low light and low flow .

I just picked up a drag yesterday at my LFS. It’s In a location that gets 60 par right now. I plan on moving it on the tank to a different location with similar par. We shall see how it does. I feed my tank pretty well so it might do pretty good.
