Hello has anyone in here had success with peppermint shrimp for aptaisa? The reason I want to use peppermint shrimp is because

1. Cheap and accessible. Many of my local fish stores have them for 10-15$ each
2. I read they won’t eat or bother my corals
3.When I’m done with them they seem easy to get out of my tank and give away or sell back to the store.

I heard there is a specific kind of peppermint shrimp I should get do you have a pic of how they should look? Also how long did it take you?
Correct, it has to be the right type though I’ve forgotten the specifics. Took them only a few days as I didn’t have much aiptasia

I bought 12 of them and they decimated every last of aptasia big or small in 2 days. It was unbelievable how good they worked.

Get them at reeftopia.com.
They have the right strain I used.

Lysmata wurdemanni and Lysmata boggessi. These are commonly known as true peppermint shrimp and Florida peppermint shrimp, and they are the ones most often used and the ones you want to eat the aptasia.

I've always seen mixed reviews, so my advice would be to try it (even though I personally had no luck with them). There is only one thing to keep in mind:

If they don't eat Aiptasia and you want to go for Berghia nudibranches instead, I'm reasonably sure the shrimp might eat/kill the nudibranches, so you will have to give them away in that case.

Some have had said they have had them eat coral but I can't help but wonder if they were stealing food from the coral not eating it. I feed mine and keep peppermints in every tank that's too small for a CBB.

They can be fun to watch when feeding.

EDIT. I found this useful.

I hope everyone who commented sees this post.THANK YOU ALL. I bought one peppermint shrimp today and as you can tell by the picture (look closely at what he’s picking at )he is already eating my baby aptaisa which is everywhere in my tank. Keep in mind I put him in and this pic was 30mins later
