I have a few ?s about my 2 week old picasso

1. I know they dont get completly white like the Snowcasso's but do they get whiter over time because mine has a white blotch on 1 side of hist tail but not the other?

2.Since they are percs. can I get a black percula from my lfs and my picasso and black will pair up???

3. If i do ^ should i get a bigger or smaller balck 1, or the same size?

Would get a picture but he moves so fast..

1 - As far as the coloration, I am not sure how they work. Many of ORA's clowns do not develop optimal color until maturity. The picassos, on the other hand, I would think should be close to fully colored when you get them. What grade of picasso did you get?

2 - Yes, you can pair them with a black perc. Make sure that it is a perc and you have a chance of magic being in the air!

3 - Get whatever size you want. Do you know much about clownfish sexes? I would think you would do best to keep your picasso as a male so you would want to get a black perc that is larger so that it will either already be, or will become, female.

Hope that helps!

1)The color development of these fish after sale should not differ much. There should be little change in the coloration. These fish do not change their color pattern very much at all as they age.The white edge markings might become more pronounced and the black coloration of these fish would only increase as normal.

2)First off there is no such thing as a " Black Percula ".The sp. you are refering to is Ocellaris, not Percula. If you were to get one of the Black Ocellaris they would more than likely par off.

3)Get one about half the size of the fish you have now.If your fish is smaller like 1-1 1/2 it is probobly still male so you could get one close to that size if you want.

I think the best answer would be lack of knowing the industry. The fish are the same sp. and are no diffirent.Just what the store buys they sell.

the white you see now is just about how white it will be, might fill in a tiny bit. The black contrast is what becomes more intense as it matures.

Yes you can pair it with any A. percula

Yes the more white the higher the grade. Also has to do with the way the bars connect on the side.Generally when the bars connect on both sides and the white pattern is more complex it will be gradeA.When the pattern is wavy and diffirent from mis bared pattern and only connects on one side it will generally be grade B.

ok, the lfs also had full bar onyx clowns dont they have some relations to picassos, i was wondering if this were to happen, the onyx and picasso or black and picasso had fry which one would have the more valuable young, i know its a low percentage to have picassos and snowcasso in a group, and even then doesnt it have to be both parents where picassos.. .. .

ive heard of peoples picassos and blacks laying eggs but the fry never live

I was just reading up on google, and i found that if you do an onyx picasso pair you might get a few picassos and the black and picassos take longer to pair up and i also found where some one on r2r has had the eggs hatch and has pictures but i couldnt find out who.. . . . . . . . .

So im not sure which mate i should get for him?

Get what you want.I dont see any reason why one would be less vaiabel then the other. How did SanJay get all his stock? He had a female Percula and a male Black Ocellaris. He had alot of babies.Get what you want.

I agree withg just get what you want to have.
If they mate up that's a plus.

Get some good books on raising clowns.

I have read a few and still don't know if I am ready should my clowns lay eggs.

I will tell you that after taking a tour of ORA and seeing hundreds of thousands of clowns from newly hatched to ready to ship, that it will be a wonderful experience to have it happen in your own tanks.
