Can anyone tell me what these white spots on this pink tail trigger are? Thanks in advance!

Looks like he's in QT, so I'm assuming he's new? Any medications currently being used on him? Any exposure to ammonia?

If the splotches weren't so numerous I'd probably say they're just stress spots.

But this looks like a precursor to a bacterial infection or velvet IME.

Yes. He’s been in qt for 2 weeks. I was wondering is it is copper sensitivity. Or possibly fungal?
Should we stop copper and see if he heals?

He's been at 0.5ppm for the full 2 weeks. White spots became visible 3-4 days ago. Mostly all at once but have gotten slightly more populated in that time.

Can you transfer him into an unmedicated HT at least 10 feet away? Reuse nothing from the QT to setup the HT, transfer only the fish. Do not lower the Cu level prior to transferring.

Will do. Again, thank you for your help. This guy was a beautiful fish when it first came in and I'd love to see him get back to being that way.

Hello Ryan when you transferred your trigger out of the copper did the blotches go away? I'm currently having the same issue with my pink trigger.

He did clear up once out of copper. He is now in a large tank (500gal, I believe). Was at a friends’ shop and we couldn’t figure it out. Forgot about this thread, so forgot to give a big thank you to @Humblefish for the suggestion.

I had my pink tail in HT and he got the same white spots when I put him in the main tank. What is it and what can be done?
