Someone please help me trying to identify what this is. I think it is Cyanobacteria I used some chemiclean last week and I thought I nailed it. But it’s coming back. I added a microscope pic taken through the eye piece with my phone so not the greatest. I did have a nitrate spike but have cleared that up
Salinity 34.9
Alk 9.9
Calcium 450
Nitrates 5
Phosphates .05-.1
Ph 8.23 average
Mag 1350
Any help is appreciated also what ever it is doesn’t move, if that helps

You have a pic of it in your tank?

You can test if it is cyano or not you know and it’s easy ;)

Collect a little of the so called cyano in a clear clean cup with saltwater, add 3 ml of H2O2 with it, slowly swirl for a 30 sec or so and let it rest.
If it change color we talking cyano if not it might spiraling or a other type of algae.
Remember that cyano ain’t a algae.

I tried the h202 and it didn’t really seem to make a noticeable change in color. It did start to break up what ever it is though. I added more wavemakers to the tank tonight to see if that helps. It looks like Dino’s almost with the little air bubbles but I have had my fun with the Dino’s and have Id’ed them when I had them, with a microscope I don’t think it’s Dino’s because they don’t move when viewing them with the scope and they overall don’t act like the Dino’s when I did have them. Any help is appreciated still trying to figure this out. I wish there was a book that had all the pics and identification of bacteria and algae with pics to be used In conjunction with the microscope.
