I use api tests for now. I only put in enough amguard that thd instructions reccomended. I measured out 5 mL in a syringe and added it to thw punp chamber. Same with the clarifier right after. Filtration is fimter floss both sides, then carbon both sides, gfo one side, xuge with chaeto, fritz max out pro media bag, and purigen in #2 chamber.
No offense but API kits are less than accurate and have let many reefers down with false readings

How old is your tank? What did you use to cycle your tank (and how long).

How old was the tank before you added corals?

I don't think the tank has completed it's cycle and the cloudiness is a bacteria bloom among other things.

A UV sterilizer would help for sure. I would also add some new carbon,

Tank went thru a 6 week slow cycle using special blend and nite-out, the first coral, a feather duster and kenya tree went in on week 7.5, added from there. All levels have been good and stable except when i lost a feather duster. then had a ammonia and nitrite spike last week from a hammer coral dying. Then did a 50%water change this past fri.

Do you seed bacteria such as Macrobact7 or other? If not you need to start ASAP. I didn't read all the posts yet - but what is your current filtration? Do you have a sump? protein skimmer?

No sump or prot skim. Yes i use special blend bacteria. Fiters are filter floss, carbom bag, purigen, feitz maxout pro, and a small fuge.

I'm not very familiar with that bacteria, however without fish (and even with) you will need to seed bacteria daily in small amounts until the tank can export the nutrients. At the current rate it cannot. Look into Macrobacter7 and also a UV sterilizer. Your tank parameters also need to be stable in order for corals to survive.

Good morning all.
so I checked on everyone this morn and it looked like they are all...ok. they were all retracted still for the night( light comes on at 8 AM. Just turned on the blue lights slightly to see and no discoloration on anyone. I'll have to check my levels when I get home this evening. I want to thank EVERYONE that helped last night. I really appreciate it, especially since it was so late :) I will update params. tonight.

Just a word of experience..
a tank that’s over filtered, overly sterile, and dosed with additives equals trouble/dinoflagellates (ask me how I know)

gfo, carbon, fritz max out, purigen, even a refugiam etc.. all have there place and use in a reef tank.. but at 2 months old I don’t believe you found there “Place” yet so stop using them.

Naturally occurring bacteria consumes ammonia, algae, etc.. restore the balance with some bacteria in a bottle and let the tank mature a little. A pair of clown fish are great stabilizers in smaller tanks helping to create the balance of ammonia that feeds the bacteria and nutrients that feed the corals.

Make it a point to get accurate testing otherwise your wasting money and risking the life of your corals and inverts. Hanna, salifert, redsea

Got home and tested. All coral look ok to me. Here are some pixof them does anyone see something I don't? And here arethe test results. I know It's API but its what I have till the salifert tests get here. I did each test twice to check consistancy and everything was equal. I do have a small bottle of prime. Should I use it to help the ammonia?

How are your fish?
There’s fish in there right?

If they are happy, ammonia is zero
Ammonia needs to be zero.

My API showed .25 Ammonia forever....it was actually zero on the salifert.
