New to this whole sump thing and pluming in general...
Plan is to run rigid pvc for 90% and then flex just the last part to the returns

Seems like I may need some sort of support for the long piece running across the back?
Would you run rigid or just flex from the pump to the returns?

Any other comments suggestions are more than welcomed as again complety new to this...

Supports are always a good idea to secure plubing to your stand so that your glass is not supporting the weight of pipes and water. I have some products linked below which I've used for this. You generally want a short length of flex tubing to attach the return pump to the hardlines, feel free to check out my tank thread for ideas on this as well as photos below.

I’m doing some of my first plumbing as well since I’m adding a frag system to my main display. Curious as to why you have valves going to each return. Is that something people normally do?
 
I was told in order to get equal (mush as possible) flow to each...may need to adjust one or the other...
 
Interesting. I’ve owned a bunch of preplumbed systems like Red Sea and Waterbox, none of them had valves for the return. I’m just going to have one valve at the main return incase I need to shut it off and still run my other system. But I’d imagine you won’t need those valves unless u want to control the amount of water coming out of each side I could see how it could be useful
 
I wouldn't recommend valves on return lines if you are using DC pumps, just adjust them with the electronic controller. valves will just cause a clogging point for debris and cause extra strain on the pumps.
 
You’re on the right track!

Instead of having your flexible tubing right at the bulkheads; I recommend having a single length right at the pump outlet; that’s where you’ll get best vibration mitigation…

Consider lowering the longer horizontal pile down around 1ft, so you can just mount pipe support straps to the stand easily!

Your ball valves would be better placed right at the return bulkheads so you can reach them easier with the tank pushed against a wall!

i have a few questions and some things to consider

- Other than ease of connecting the pipe work - what is the purpose of mixing flexible tube with rigid pipe?
I personally prefer hard plumbing, but flex is easy and I think this could just as easily be done with just flex tube

- I like the use of the quick disconnects to the drain lines - are you planning to add any of these to your return line too?

- If you plan on using ball valves to help to equalize flow to each side, you may consider placing them closer close the actual inlet


As a side now - you can actually eliminate the ball valves if you place have T centered between the two sides. With that said, if the line is under a good amount of pressure, it may not matter either way.

here's a suggest revision to your plumbing - this eliminate ball valves for evening out the flow, but instead uses them to allow you to seal them off (Yellow), and then adds an ample amount of quick-disconnect (blue), maybe too many, but I always like to leave myself options for down the road.

Here's an option to use mostly flexible (blue) with a smaller amount of rigid (red) plumbing). This also would even out the flow. the Ball valve (yelow) may not be needed.

in both of these example the pipework would benefit from some sort of support as @TX_REEF has suggests

Once you have this figured out- then the final step would be to add a few 3/4in Random flow Generators to your th eretuen liens ;-)
