Basically an oxidizing agent that kills some of the theronts/dinospores during their life cycle. They recommend morning and evening doses, and removal of carbon during treatment. They also recommend morning and evening doses; not using UV until an hour after dosing.

Their strategy seems to be controlling the theronts/dinospores population to give the fish's a chance to fight it off. Similar to running a class 1 UV or strong ozone. Definitely not a cure.

I wonder what times during the morning and evening would be the most effective time to doze Medic?

Can you run carbon to improve general water quality an hour or two before your dose?

I think i read somewhere that it said best at around 10am and 10pm, not sure though
Honestly not sure how effective it is when ive used it as ive still had fish die from ich
Not sure about the catbon thing, i didnt put i back in and my tank was fine for 2 weeks without the carbon

Apart from not working, the bit that annoys me about Medic is the 10am/pm thing. I'm assuming this is timed to target a particular activity or active/non-active period of the day for the ich parasite. I assume because Polyp Lab tell you nothing.

If that is the case, what is 10am/pm in a reef tank? How would your light cycle affect that? What about daylight savings lol? If it has nothing to do with an actual 24hr biological cycle, why not say dose every 12 hrs?

Pseudo-scientific bs.

For what its worth, I talked directly with a rep of PolypLab at Dallas' Aquashella event a couple weeks ago. He said that the Medic product does not work once the cysts form in your tank, meaning the only shot (far shot in my opinion) of this product working would be to dose it right as you add new fish. I am skeptical enough to call it snake oil no matter what time you dose it.

+1 I too am assuming Medic is trying to time target the release of theronts. There are articles that say tomonts release theronts at night time to increase the rate of infection, so it seems to me it is targeting before and after release. I am skeptical of anything that does not list its active ingredients.

Is there any literature that states that 10am and 10pm would be good times to dose?

I'm also curious how long an oxidizing agent like Hydrogen peroxide or this crystalized form stay in the water column...

Advanced Aquarist has an article that says from 2 AM to 9 AM. You can get the original from the references. https://www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/12/mini#section-4
My guess is that H2O2 would not last very long since the O is very reactive.
