The first time around, everything got sick, treated for ich, fish started dying, eel jumped out and I gave up after that. Tore everything down and out. So my 90 gallon has been sitting empty for a few months now. Instead of looking at an empty tank just sitting there, I was thinking maybe trying again. I am so discouraged though. What do you think?

I would say it like this... if you would do it all the same way as the first time - same aquascape, same fish, same qt method - then you would likely have the same result as the first time. So I think it comes down to what would you do differently to improve the chance of success?

Just remember the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Look at where you failed, learn from it, adjust, and start again.
1. Everything got sick? - with what? did you QT? (goes for the ich comment as well)
2. Eel jumped out? No secure lid I guess.
Keep you expectations based on the fact you have a 90 gallon tank. An Eel was likely not a good choice in the 1st place. Put together a stocking plan and run it by the experts here. And MOST importantly, be patient. This isn't something that benefits from being rushed.

Consider either setting up a proper quarantine system (and following the Quarantine Protocol) or sourcing all the fish from a place like Dr. Reef. Also set up a properly sized and plumbed UV filter, one that has specific flow requirements for parasites vs algae.

Agreed but i would use Ozone over UV. Same result, less cost/effort

Interesting, I didn't know you could use Ozone for parasite control.
