I grabbed this cement by accident I usually use regular clear pvc cement. Has anyone used this for their tank or is it ok to use? I have a system already running that I want to re doing most of the plumbing. I’ve already used this on half of the project. I’d rather be safe than sorry and if I need to redo it all I will. I just don’t want to harm the fish or coral. What I’ve glued already has been done over 48 hours ago

The cpvc cement is for potable water use so is fine for the tank but its not the right glue for regular pvc, so dont use it on anything pressurized.

Yea use pvc cement not cpvc which is used on cvcp pipe.
And yes the clear is the best for visual appeal unless you’re very skilled with keeping the colored version where it belongs.
Yeah I don’t know how I grabbed the wrong one. In terms of visual I’m not concerned it’s a basement system but I’ll be redoing it with the right glue

It should work just fine.. nothing in our systems is pressurized.. I mean I’ve dry fit things and forgot to glue them and never got a leak over a year lol.. our systems are all free flowing with very little to no pressure at all.

I agree I was actually just more concerned if there’s different chemicals that could harm the animals when I move the system over to the new pipes. I will have 2 or 3 joints that will be newly glued before I let water through. I’ll probably shut the return off for like 2 hours to let it cure as much as possible

I'd let it cure longer. Overnight would be ideal.
