also any comments on the PFO hoods (mh and vho actinics)

im looking to pick up a used PFO fixture with 1 MH se and 2 VHO actinics
my tank is a 50 breeder with a center brace....so i wanted to add another socket to the fixture and i also need 175w ballasts to power them...and 175 SE bulbs...any reccomendatons?

there is two sizes of se sockets a Medium e27 and a standard e40. the standard fits most bulbs. the xm bulbs are real nice. i am putting together a couple 175 xm 15k with 2 x 24" pfo parallel reflector should be real nice when i am done.

for parts you can check http://www.hellolights.com , i think are sponser for CZ

It all depends on what color/hue you want to tank to have. You can go from yellow to white to blue. I would suggest visiting some LFS to check out their different setups to see which colors you like. Once you decide that, I think we can probably direct you better.

oh i do like the blue look....like the sunpod 14k look...

i need a ballast to fire both bulbs....should i go with icecap or pfo?
for a 50 breeder and sps at the top...with the fixture about 6" above the water....will the 175w be enough?

thats a lot of light what is the hight of the tank? you may be able to put sps in more for middle and bottom with that much light.

both those ballast are nice you should have a problem with them.
