So I got this birds nest frag about a month ago. I placed it near the top (there is about 4-5" of water above it.) Right now I know I have too much flow hitting it and I'm about to change that. (Wave maker pointed right at it, it's not extending polyps on that side.)

So my questions are how can I get rid of the hair algae that is growing out of it on the top left? Everytime I scrub it, it grows back.

And is it proper to mount it vertically like this or would it have been better to have mounted it horizontally. Will it form more branches out the side, or will it keep growing into a giant Y shape.

Sorry if these are noob questions. This is my first SPS in a LPS/Softie tank.
