Do you have a lid? It will most definitely jump. They tend to be a bit skittish over all but once acclimated to the tank and have picked a hole to hide in then become pretty bold (as long as they know they can go to their hole quickly if needed). Until they pick a home and anytime they feel like they cannot get to their chosen spot they will look for an out and that is usually up and typically out of the tank. I dont think there will be issues with the watchman or pistol unless maybe the firefish trys to use their den.

Either way. I have never had an issue with firefish adding 2 at the same time its worked for me with helfrichi, red, and purples. Dont try mixing the different types that does not work out well. Also dont try to add a third because the 2 are working well that doesnt go well either. The only dartfish commonly avail that seem to do ok in larger groups are the scissortails and Zebra.

As long as you can sex them in the store and get a male/female you should be fine

Not that that is a bad idea just kind of hard to do. Best bet would be get a couple good pics of their belly area and zoom in to see the shape of the little tiny sexual organ that is just behind the first bottom fin. I am not good with anatomy names sorry, I know what to look for though.

I dont know if I was lucky in the past but Just observing the fish in the lfs I never had an issue bringing 2 home and having them not spend all of their time together. Did I actually get a m/f pair I dont know at the time I didnt know how to sex them. Maybe I am just extremely lucky. They always seemed to "pair" up. I think my helfrichi "pair" actually became a mated pair though as I saw spawning behaviors from them regularly.

Acclimate well and even do a short quarantine. At minimum, give them a 60 minute ruby rally pro bath and at store, assure they are not thin, dont have damaged fins and are eating and breathing normal. Alway ask to see any fish eat

We have two firefish that we bought together . They were always together in the LFS so we figured they would be fine together. We qt;d them together and put them in the display . They even slept in the same hole in the rocks . One started getting bigger than the other and after about three months in the display the bigger one started attacking the smaller one . After a bunch of bite marks and missing fins we put the smaller one back in the qt and started a second tank for the smaller fish

I never had this problem with 2 but 3 or more yes every time. Its like they get used to the tank its all fine until that point then they start the beatings.
