November update time! Heads up --- pic heavy!

It seems like time has sped up, even more-so recently. Blink and all the sudden we are pushing Thanksgiving and getting ready for Christmas!
The only real recent addition is a black clown so my lonely frostbite bullet hole has a friend. Was worried how that would be received, so i stuck it in an acclimation container for a few days so everyone could get used to it. They were fast friends and it all worked out pretty well though.

Other than that, the new zoas are growing super fast, each plug already has a few new heads:

And everyone up on frag row are doing well too, the colliderscope has been hitting the 'roids pretty hard too LOL. It is the tall one in the middleish. Everything up there started about the same time and the same size!

A Fire Engine! is still doing awesome up on that monty

Diabloberrybow has some ridiculous neat blue on the base and has been really fuzzy
1763933715144.png

Looks like the algae is starting to come back, maybe i should do a little preventative rock cleaning once in a while... Blenny loves hanging out in the sticks, maybe he will quit slacking and trim it up too.

And a broader view of the nems, who in my neglect have decided they don't want just their island, they want world (tank) domination. It is getting harder to get to their feet to even be able to get them out now with all the zoa growth.

Other than that, i have been making some headway with my kalk-stirrer, i printed up some pieces for it last month, then the kids broke them and i decided it wasn't strong enough. So, i re-designed those parts and am working on getting them printed out. Got the bigger pieces printed yesterday and am working on some of the smaller ones today. I will update about that too as soon as there is something neat to look at.

Looking good! Cool that you’re doing some diy with a kalk stirrer too.

That sounds like a good move to me! I use Kalk in my ato and afr for heavy lifting. I like the hybrid approach but the kalk stirrer and separate trace drip also sounds really appealing.

What’s your nem count right now and what are you doing with those being voted off the island? Also, for the exiled, what’s your trick to remove them? Thanks, awesome tank!
Thank you :)
I have 3 of them in an acclimation box right now, I usually put the runaways there until i can make a trip to the 'l'fs (3 hours away). Usually i can see when one is getting ready to jump ship and can catch it before it sets its foot too hard. They come up really easy that way, just pick them up LOL. I think I am at 15 or so in the tank now? uhuo. I am pretty sure i am up to around 50 or so that have come from my original over the years though.

Thanks for the update. Maybe we get a FTS next time.

I really like the pic with the Hawkfish!

Did some tank maintenance yesterday, finally cleaned the glass, did a 10 gallon water change, cleaned the skimmer, fragged up a hammer colony, glued a bunch of zoas to plugs that were floating around everywhere. You know, nothing too crazy. Will have to grab some pics of the frags tomorrow when they open back up, but i did snap this one that i submitted for photo of the month club:

What coral is that? Looks like an alveopora.

I believe you are right. I think one of the key differences between alvis and gonis are that alveopora has 12 tentacled polyps where goniopora typically has 24. I am not a flowerpot expert though so i may well be wrong.

I forgot to add to my post...
It should have read... 'it is beautiful'!
You are correct on the alveopora vs gonis sir

Ok, one more update. ReefBreeders' sale on the meridian with free shipping, AND now it has 14k spectrum optimized LEDs (the 'shallow reef' model)... Couldn't resist any longer. Ordered another 11 inch for the other half of my tank. Going to get an upgraded replacement array in 14k too for my other one as soon as they are available.

Haha, congrats on the second light. It’s still a bunch of money but the savings are pretty nice. Merry early Christmas.

Nice that you can spend the money on yourself. With your personality and looks, no one else is going to.

Oh yeah, you can smell what I'm stepping in! It took a bit of puppy's eyes (read that as begging from there floor) but my accountant (the wife has me on a budget as money flows through my fingers like water) finally relented that it would be nice(to get me off her back) to have symmetrical light fixtures. But i did have to trade that for the new 3d printer i had my eye on.

Speaking of 3d printers... finally got the parts for the kalk stirer printed out and put together. I think it turned out pretty good for a v1.5 attempt. We are headed out of town today though so it will have to wait to be put in service.
